I, page cirrtzi? Grains Slump At Start But Finisli Strong CHICAGO, March 17-(iip)-Gto markets were irregular ' today, breaking sharply during the early ' trade but rallying during the final hour to finish with wheat and rye showing gains of as much as half a cent ; " ' ;..' :.;::'-; Most of the operations i were concerned i with evening up in preparation for the week-end re cess. ' . "! !,. Some hedging wis attributed to milling interests and there were indications of a lighter demand for cash grains. Trade sources said , some of the selling indicated at least slight improvement in the supply of freight cars on western - lines. ,Wheat lost nearly a jcent at times when offerings credited to flour millers found the demand limited. Local shorts covered on the dip. At the finish wheat was y low er to! higher! than yesterday's closejMay $1.71iV-. Corn was ud Vi to . May $1.14. Oats were down Vt to May 6634 . Rye was Unchanged to . higher. May $U44. Barley was off to k May $1.10. Stocks Make Comeback During Week NEW YORK, March 17-(;P)-The stock market today concluded good recovery week, although the slowest sinje last November, with specialized j strength offsetting profit cashing stumbles in virtual . ly all departments. Earnings, dividends! individual situations and inflation ideas per sisted as bidding insipration. Many customers, however, held aloof on the thought that impor tant war news over the week-end might alter the course of prices. Transfers of 400,000 shares com pared with 750,000 last Saturday ' and were the smallest since No vember 25. The Associated Press 60-stock composite was up .1 of a point at 81.9 and on the week showed a net comeback of 1.2 points. The rail average made another new. high since 1937. Of 706 issues register ing, 280 advancfd against 426 down or unchanged. Forage Crop Meetings Scheduletl Next Week C. E.
