Plans were discussed for the annual Rainbow formal dance to be held December 23 from 9 to 12 o'clock. Theme of the affair will be "Heavenly Holiday." Proceeds from the rummage le held in early January netted if5 and will go to the aid of returning blind war veterans. The Rainbow Christmas party with exchange of gifts will be held December 26. Pedermans Visit From Alaska Mr. and Mrs. Ray D. Peder man of Sitka, Alaska, are leav ing Tuesday for Portland and Seattle after a two weeks visit here with Mrs. Ted Mickelsoa and children, Karen and Edgar, at their home on North 14th street. They will return to Sitka after the holidays. The Pedermans have been : visiting in , Washington. Mon tana, Idaho and Oregon. Last weekend they were the quests of Mrs. Mkrkelson's mother, Mrs. Louis Snyder, and Mr. and Mrs. Reinert Holmes at their Silverton homes. The visitors were honored at dinner Monday night when'Mrs. Mickelson and Mrs Carl Jensen entertained at the latter home. Mrs. George R. K. Moorhead, president of the Ore gon Federation of Women's .clubs, will be the guest speaker at the afternoon session. j Although this is not election year, there will be two import' ant offices to be filled, that of the president and recording sec retary. Fifty one clubs are rep resented in the third district Mrs. Percy Kelly will lead the delegates in group singing in the morning. Mrs. David H. Camer on w&l be the soloist during the afternoon. . Salem Junior Woman's club members are ' planning the luncheon at noon and decora tions. . r- , Junior Club Sells $10,000 in Ponds Initiation of Mrs. W. R. Metz ger and Mrs. Richard Beyer as members of the ' Salem Junior Woman's club opened a business meeting of that organization Monday night at the Woman's clubhouse, presided over by Mrs. James C. Pike, club president. : Applications, for membership in the club, which now has a to tal of 47, were accepted from Mrs. Ray Smith, Mrs. William Haskin, Miss Bonnie Lee Folk and Mrs. Robert langhlm. Miss Maria Dare, chairman of the war service committee, re ported that the club is credited wtih 110,486.25 in its bond drive for the purchase of equipment for the Navy air armada. Re porting on the recent dance sponsored- by the club, Mrs. Lloyd Reilly announced a profit of $49.58 which was voted to ward the purchase of a war bond. Proceeds of the fall fash ion bridge, $44.22, were voted for use in war service work.1 ' A certificate in recognition of 100 hours of volunteer USO work was presented to the club in a letter from Mr. Tinkham Gilbert, chairman of the USO council. It was voted that the club would purchase a ' $5 Tu berculosis seal bond. Salem jun ior clubwomen will cooperate with Mrs. C W. Stacey, legislation- chairman for the Oregon Federation of Wpmen's clubs, for the passage during the coming legislative, session of a bill pro viding for health instruction and physical education in the ele mentary and- high schools of Oregon. Funds were voted from the club's philanthropic fund for the purchase of a Christmas gift for the group V honorary member, Irval Gwinn, a patient . at the state tuberculosis hospital, and clothing and a Christmas gift for , Soren McAllister, student at the state blind school.
