Captains for the womens division of the Salem United War Chest drive have been' -selected and are announced this weekend by Miss Dorothea Steusloff, chairman of the ' women's division. Miss Steusloff s associate chairmen met with her this last week to ' "complete plans far the drive. j U The preampaian breakfast will be held at the Marion hotel on Monday morning. Informal tea meetings for the women, captains will be held at the home of Mrs. G. Frederick Chambers. South Salem workers will meet on October 3 and the North Salem -women will meet on October .4. At that time final instructions j will be driven by Mr. E. i IJurr Miller, campaign chair man. and Mr. Loyal Warner, associate chairman. I :: ; - ' Each autumn, as sure as September rolls around; we find women s service, dvic, patriotic and church groups launching enthusiastically into the business of active winter work-Uand of course in these times, it is mostly war work. I Moy Important; wartime projects depend en tirely for their success on womerj's help- Red Cross sewing and knitting, USO canteen and hostess work, rnurses aides, women's land army and many others of varying degrees of importance! Women, in peace time too, work faithfully in Red; Cross, War chest j; i : j if Qiristmas seal, and war bond drives. While each group has it's pet projects, all jpin to make every one a success.. - j ; ? Now comes the ! problem of post war adjust- ments, and already far seeing women are making plans for the day after peace. ' : ,:; . David Nielsen will read the marriage rites. The altar will be decorated with bouquets of gladioluses, palms and fern The candles will be lighted by Miss Wanda Webb, whb will weai a flame red marguisetts gown. Mrs. Jean Hobson Rich will play the wedding marches. Of white satin is the bridal gown. The gored skirt ends in a train enhanced with lace panels. The bodice is fash ioned with a V-neckline with lace insets, long sleeves and tiny satin buttons extend from neckline to wcdsfline tn back. Her Jingertip length tulle veil will be arranged in a tiara of seed pearls.' ' A Wedding: at the Church. ... 1 The Dallas Methodist church was the setting for the marriage of Miss Mary Margaret Uvesay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Uvesay of Dallas, and Mr. Paul Jaquith, son of 1. and Mrs. Walter L. Jaquith of Newberg, on Saturday aft ernoon. Rev. Harold Shellhart of, Gresham, assisted by Rev. Clark Err?, pastor of the Dallas Methodist church, officiated at 3 o'clock, before a large group' of friends, including many from Salem. ' " The ceremony! was performed before a lattice banked with greenery and bouquets of white gladioluses, pink and white asters and blue delphinium. ' Lighting the altar candles were Mrs. Dallas Messerve of Eugene and Mrs. Alvin Kroeker of West Salem. They vrore pink gowns. Mr. Melyin Gilson sang "Because" and "I Love Thee" with Miss Faith Idso at the organ. , ' , " t i The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory satin gown fashioned with a short train. The , bodice was enhanced with beading and lace insets. Her tulle veil was arranged in a coronet and she carried a bou- . j quet of gardenias, stephanotisj and orchids. ; '' ' , Mrs. E L Sudguist of Eugene was her cousin's honor attendant She wore a pink marqulsette-irock? and a coronet of stephanotis in her hair. Het bouquet was of pastel pom pom dahlias, asters and blue delphinium. ' ' T5 Ralph W. Uvesay, the bride's brother, stood with Mr. Jaquith as best man. Ushers were Mr. Kenneth Jaquith -and Mr. JackGlasse. - j . For her daughter's nuptials Mrs. Uvesay wore a printed crepe dress with black accessories. Her corsage was of gar denias and pink, rosebuds. Mrs. Jaquith wore rose crepe with black accessories. Her flowers were gladiola florettes. -- The wedding reception was held in the church parlors where the newlywed3 received their congratulations. Mrs. . U S.'Ballantyne, aunt of the bride,; presided at the coffee urn, Mrs. George Greenwell cut the bride's cake and Miss Mabel Uvesay. aunt of the bride, served the groom's cake. Assisting were Miss Faith Idso, Miss Earline Gleason, Miss Eunice Massee and Miss Yvonne Mozee. Miss Carolyn Lozenby of Portland passed the guest book. In charge of the gift table were Mrs. Dallas Messerve and Mrs. Alvin Kroeker. v ' Vhen the couple left on their wedding trip the bride wore a navy blue tailleur with pastel and navy 'accessories. "After a trip to the coast the couple will return to Salem to reside. After the first xi November they will go to Waitsburg, Wash., where Mr. Jaquith has accepted a student appointment at the Methodist church.' Mr. and Mrs. Jaquith have been students at Willametta university. She is a member of Delta Tau Gamma and Mu Phi Epsilon.
