Aug; fc-flPr Infantile paralysis Is near epidem ic proportions in three states and has occurred in 37 states, the US public health service said today, adding that the disease has af fected more persons thus far' this year than in any year since 1934. The total number of cases re ported up to July 29, the health service said, was 3060,' compared with 3180 up to the same date 10' years ago. z - - - The present cumulative figures compare- with a total of 2318 at the same time last yean 'i For the week' ended July 29, there were 733 new cases reported throughout the country, the high est number for a comparable week since 1911; : . Health officials said it is impos sible to predict at this date, how ever, how the present year will eventually compare with major epidemic years of the past It all depends, they said, on when the peak is reached and this may oc cur anytime between the latter part of August and early October. The disease is near epidemic in New York, North Carolina and Kentucky, although for the past three weeks there has been a drop in the number of new .cases re ported in North Carolina. New ( York had' a total of 593 Cases up to July, 29; North" Caro lina had 424; Kentucky 312. The health service classifies the disease as "mildly epidemic" in Virginia, where! 142 cases have been reported to date. ' Infantile paralysis is 'above sea sonal expectancy'- in Ohio, Indi ana and Michigan, but there are very few cases in the: New England-states and the mountain states.' ; ' i pects to report for duly at Fresno, Calif. - : ' - ' ' 9 JOr-Auantie Spotlight. 104)0 Here s to Youth . 10 JO Here's Babe Ruth. 1045 War: Telescope. 114)0 Stars of Tomorrow. 12.-00 Minstrel Melodies. y 12 JO Music on Display. 1 4X Rupert Hughes.. -1:15 Barbara and the Boy. 1 JO Rhythm Workshop. - 2 DO Your Aruenca 2 345 Rhythms for Saturday.'
