GCi and ca.co Bean Pickers Are Mobilized For Harvests The OSC extension service, through the state emergency farm labor office,! was mobilizing it forces throughout the Willamette valley today for. the harvesting of a record breaking acreage in snap beans. 5j - The major portion of this' crop, which last year was valued at aoout S3,uuutuuuf win nave to re harvested by youth and women again this season! A total of 4700 acres of snap Deans nave been planted for processing this year, j it is estimated, or 400 -more acres than were harvested in 1943. In addition, some acreage has been planted for the fresh market ' The bean harvest will begin in some areas about' July 25, but the peak demand fot workers will not come until about the middle of August County; farm labor' as sistants will recruit these pickers.
