PAGE EEC Miss Cooke Now Mrs. Henery .; From California c.om es word of the marriage of Miss Dorothy Lois Cooke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Cooke, and lieu tenant James A. Henery, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Henery, all of Salem. The ceremony took place on Friday, June 18 in the study of the United Presbyterian church at Santa Ana. Rev.' A- E. Kelly .' officiated at the 8:30 o'clock rites. i For her wedding the bride wore a navy blue tailleur with navy blue and white accessories. She was attended by Miss Jo anne Holstad of Portland and Lt. Hugh F. Newell of Illinois was Lt. Henery'i best man. ' 'i After a wedding' trip in south- . ern California the couple will be at home in Santa Ana. Lt Hen ery is stationed at the marine corps air station at El Toro, Calif. The bride and groom are graduates of Salem schools. The new Mrs. Henery attended Ore gon State college where she was affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Her husband attended Santa Rosa Junior college. Mrs. Madison Heads Legion - Members of the American Le gion auxiliary met Monday in the Salem Woman's club and elected Mrs. Donald Madison president for the year which be gins in September. Installation of officers .will be held at that time. Other officers to assist Mrs. Madison will be first vice presi dent, Mrs. Austin Wilson; second - vice president, Mrs. L N. Bacon; recording secretary, Mrs. Frank Marshall; treasurer, Mrs. Merle D. Travis; corresponding secre tary, Mrs. John A. Olson; finance officer, Mrs. H. Anderson. Delegates to the department convention in August will be Mrs. James A. Carson, Mrs. Don Madi son, Mrs. I. N. Bacon, Mrs. Merle D. Travis, Mrs. John A. Olson, Mrs. Frank Marshall, Mrs. A. W. The fourth of July commission consisting of Mrs. W. L. Miss Margaret Melton was her sister's maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were - Mrs. John McNeill and Miss Blonde Hobbs, of Thomson, Mrs.- Ralph Tolve of Swainsboro, and Miss Marga ret Johnson of Charleston, SC The matron of honor, maid of honor and the bridesmaids wore identical dresses in all white with jersey bodice featuring the long torso, low sweetheart neck- line and cap sleeves. Yards of I organza formed the billowing skirts. With these they wore long white kid evening gloves. The matron of honor carried a bou quet of yellow carnations, the maid of honor, red carnations, while the bridesmaids carried mixed spring flowers. The bride entered with Mr, W. W. Chandler of Warren ton, who gave hef In' marriage. She wore a traditional wedding gown of ivory satin made with the symbolic sweetheart neckline, long torso silhouette, long sleeves extending to points over tne nands. The very full skirt formed a billowing train. Her veil of bridal illusion fell grace fully from a small net calot em broidered with seed pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses centered with an or chid. ; ; ii . :" The bride received her BS de gree in -education from Georgia State college for women, Mill edgeville. Prior to entering the Waves she taught school, and is now stationed; at Charleston, SC. Lt. Prior to entering the navy he was assistant ; instructor in Oregon State college.
