' . After a steady opening all grains .eased in mid-session, but then recovered, wheat responding slightly to the upturn in rye just before the close and finishing un changed to higher than the previous close. May $1.71 , July $1.68V-. Rye ended the day with gains of to 1 cent, May $1.29-, oats closed V up, May 81, ; and barley finished with gains of 1 to Vi May $16. Crop reports continue favor able, but wheat operators paid little attention , to routine news and were inclined to let the mar ket drift within a narrow range, The marketward movement of wheat still is liberal and little change is shown in prices at Min neapolis where the grain sells at the ceiling of 3 cents under the permissable maximum, the high er protein offerings showing . the discount A good deal of attention was focused on the small move ment of corn from the country and what plans the government may have to improve it Victim of Fire Is Given Shower AMITY A miscellaneous shower was given Thursday after noon by the members and friends of the Christian -church for Mrs, Ella warner whose - house and contents in the southeast part of Amity were destroyed . by fire re cently.
