Richard Dicker ' son, will entertain their parents Monday night at 8 o'clock at the armory. Bob Miller will be the guest speaker. Following' the for mal program, a late supper will be served. Kenneth AJIen is adjutant of the group. Dan McDade, department com mander, American Legion, recently complimented the local Sons, re porting that this was the most ac tive squadron in 'the state. " North Dallas Child Doernbecher Patient r NORTH DALLAS Little Mar tha Jean Warkentine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sol H. Warkentine is at the Doernbasher hospital in Portland, under observation' of specialists. She has been ill since the first part of December. ,.' Mrs. John R. Classen, who re cently returned from a Salem hos pital following a major operation, is improving." . Mr. and Mrs. Herman N. " Beacon Bible School Holds Sunday Program NORTH DALLAS The Bea con Bible school gave a program at the Salt Creek Baptist church Sunday. The program was led by one of the teachers, Waldo Wall. The message of the evening was given by the principal, Professor Frank" NickeL Quartet numbers, testimonies and group songs com pleted the program. After the. program, Mrs. Abe Toevs, mother of one of the pu pils, invited the group to - their home for coffee and doughnuts. : - Present were the teachers, Mr. Wall and Mr. Nickel, Harry and Marvin Thiesen, Peter Fast, Her man Fast, Elmer and Walter Quir ing, Bill Goertz, Harold Friesen, Ella Quiring, ' Evelyn Thiesen, Eli zabeth Friesen, Betty Kroeker, Elma Classen, Leona Peters, Nick olina Pankratz, Anna Ediger, El nora Warkentine, Verna Hockstri, Frieda Toevs, . Irene Classen and Agnes - Toevs and the hostess. ; Amity! Business Men Contribute . , AMITY The Commercial club met Wednesday in the parlors of the Christian church. H. J. Richter is the new. president. The club con tributed $11 to the infantile par alysis fund. In place of taking a collection, a game was played in which fines were imposed for any kind of of fense or broken rule. Earle C. Miller, Ninety and Nine Evangelist, is -holding a series of revival meetings at the Christian church here. He gave a short talk and played two selections on the steel saw and sang a number, ac companying himself on the guitar. Over 20 were present to enjoy the chicken dinner served by the women of the church. . ' Mill City Man Marries In California MILL CITY Friends have re ceived word 1 of the marriage- of Glen Hathaway, sr., and Miss Vera Jenne of Detroit, Mich. The ceremony was performed at the home of Dr. and Mrs. A. L. Baker in Richmond, Calif., Jan. 20, with Dr. Baker officiating. Mrs. Hathaway is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Alien Jenne of Mesick, Mich., and has been - a nnrse in the Booth hospital in .De troit for 15 years, jt, ' ' Mr. Hathaway and, his family have lived fin Mill City for the last seven years. Mrs. Ray Abney Visits Daughter in Portland SIDNEY- -Mrs. I$ay Abney is visiting her daughter,' Mrs. Buck Shoup in .Portland while taking medical treatments. Mrs. Abney's son-in-law works in the shipyard at Portland. Mr. and ; Mrs. W. G. Boswell have a new grandson, James Ar- tnur Boswell, son of Mr. and Mrs. . R. Boswell. The Sidney school children and teacher have invested $373.15 in war bonds and stamps. More will be purchased. Shirley Grenz of Sidnev- is vis iting in Eugene. Her brothers, Ronald and Jib, expect to be inducted. in the army February 15. : Sicegle Family Moves To Portland SWEGLE Mr. and Mrs. Rav K. Hall and two children, Jimmy and "Kathy moved Saturday to Portland from the Ira Pilcher home on East Turner road. Hall is employed on a river tug boat at Portland. The family moved to Sa lem a year ago from Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Stark and daughter Joan, left by train last week for a three-weeks' visit with relatives in mid-western states.
