The young couple will be -married on Saturday, December 4, at the First Methodist church it S o'clock with large group of relatives and friends invited to the nuptials. The home of the . bride-elect's mother," Mrs. Wal ter L. -y Spaulding, on Court street, will be the scene of the wedding reception. The wedding date was re v e a 1 e d at a smartly arranged supper party Friday night for which Miss ; Spaulding's aunt, Mrs. Roy H. Mills,, was hostess. Guests were seated at small, ta bles centered with bridal favors and bouquets of autumn flowers provided the decorative note. Not until the guests were given their tally cards for bridge did they learn of the wedding day. Clever announcements, bearing the names of the cou ple, told the news. She also wore a necklace which "was worn by the bride groom's mother at her wedding. Hollis Albert Davis, aviation machinist's mate second class, of Albany, served as best man. - The bride's mother wore a blue silk crepe dress - for her daughter's wedding and wore, a corsage of. roses and carnations. ,. The couple -left immediately for Sunnyside, Wash., for a brief honeymoon, and the bridegroom left Monday - for further naval aviation training at Peru, Ind. Mr. Martin was graduated from Jefferson high school and enlist ed in the air corps more than a year ago: He has been stationed at Pasco, Wash since. Mrs. Mar tin - graduated om Sunnyside, Wash, high school in 1943, and has been employed in a Jewelry store in Kenewick, and after a visit at the home of the bride groom's . parents in Jefferson, plans to return to Kennewick! Custard with caramel sauce SUNDAY Lettuce salad Old fashioned veal pie with dumplings Stewed celery and carrots Steamed fig pudding MONDAY String bean salad ' Swiss steak with brown rice Frozen asparagus Baked apples and cookies BAKED FIG PUDDING 2 cups dried figs ' cup shortening Vi cup sugar 1 egg, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cups sifted flour 2 teaspoons , baking powder yt tepoon salt cup milk Cover dried figs with boiling water, let stand 10 minutes, then drain and snip into pieces, using scissors. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder and salt, and add alternately with milk, : beating well after each addition. Stir in figs. Bake in greased baking dish or 8-inch square pan in a moderate oven (350 degrees) 1 hour. Serves 6 to 8. Serve hot with your favor ite pudding-sauce. This one is especially good with it VINEGAR SAUCE ' ' 1 cups water . 1 tablespoon butter or mar garine cup sugar Few grains salt l'i tablespoons cornstarch -i teaspoon nutmeg Vt ' teaspoon vanilla 1 . tablespoon vinegar (or - lem on) " ' : ' Heat water and butter or mar garine to boiling. Mix sugar, salt and corn starch, add all at once to boiling liquid and cook .stir ring constantly, - until clear and thickened.
