O'HARA NEW YORK, Nov. 20-VP The stock market today topped a gen erally good week with its third successive advance. In relatively broad and active dealings for a short session, fa vored rails, utilities . and Indus trials added fractions to a .point or so to Friday's sharp upswing and, while a little profit taking at the last trimmed peak prices here and there, many leaders closed at or near the day's best. The Associated Press 60-stock average was up .3 of a point at 48.6, and on the week held a net advance of .6. Transfers totalled 481,978 shares, largest for a two hour stretch since September 18. Among the day's gainers were Goodyear, Goodrich, Chrysler, US Steel, Western Union "A", Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Texas Co., Sears Roebuck, J. I. Case, Douglas Aircraft, Glenn Martin, Pepsi-Cola, Philip Morris, Du Pont, Op penheim Collins, America Cable & Radio, International Telephone, and United Corp. preferred. ZOKflVWheat continued on its upward trail to day, moving to new highs for as long ago as 18 years on good buy ing attributed to millers, distillers and feed manufacturers. : Although trading was not ac tive, the advance was persistent throughout the session. Prices were ragged at the start and then started upward, offerings on the advance were light, although a lit tle profit-taking immediately pri or to the close brought a slight recession. . At the' finish wheat was higher, December $1.62-Vi. The advance sent December wheat to a new peak since 1925, July to a high since 1928 and May to its best levels since 1929.
