Mrs. Anna Keaton who has

Mrs. Ed Spa, left Wednesday mor
ning for Seattle where she will
make an " indefinite, stay at the
home of another daughter, Mrs.

SCIO On the 13th birthday an
niversary of Dawn Purdy Friday,
the 27 boys and girls met on tne
lawn of the Purdy home near the
east outskirts of the city. Refresh
ments followed games, music and
visiting.-
I Thirteen 'red, white and blue
candles on the cake, together with
small American flags, afforded a
patriotic slant at the party. A flag
was given to each guest as a sou
venir of the event.

Purdy, also observed her birthday
at the same time, she also hav

Reilly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ce
cil O'Reilly of south Scio. Games
and refreshments were featured.
The boy is six years of age.
i Melvin Sweet and family of
Grand Ronde visited relatives and
friends in Scio and vicinity a few
days ago. They were guests at the
home of Mrs. Sweet's mother, Mrs.
Clarence Leffler. Mrs. Sweet at
tended hieh school here a few
years ago. - -
Recent visitors in the Scio com
munity from Portland included
Kenneth Westenhouse and family
of Portland. Kenneth is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. George Westen
house. pioneer farmers on Thomas
creek, and taught in Linn and
Lane county schools for several
years.
Imogene Miller is expected home
this week from a visit of two
weeks with the family of her sis
ter, Mrs. George Powell, at Mon
roe. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Miller,
farmers a short distance southest of
Scio. dan to attend next Sunday
at Redmond the silver wedding
anniversary of Mr. Millers sister,
Mrs. Dean Van Meter.
Albany to Get ;
New 'V'Center
ALBANY Construction of
new victory center for Albany is
to be started soon, authorization
for the same having been received
here by G. T. Hockensmith, Al
bany postmaster.
The center will be located on
the postoffice block between . the,
postoffice and the Greyhound ter
minal building, tentative plans
calling for either a building or
housed platform, the cost of
which is to be between $1300 and
$1500. Construction also calls for
the erection of a fence to enclose
the entire lot.
Hockensmith asked for and re
ceived the permission to erect the
buildings on the postoffice block
at the request of Harold Farns,
Linn county bond sales chairman.
Permission was received from W,
E. Reynolds, commissioner of
public buildings for the postoffice
department.
