The marine corps women's reserve recruiters will be 0ne-a-Week Traffic Death , Toll in Oregon At least . one traffic death was reported in Oregon every, week during the first six months of this year, according to Secretary of State Bob Farrell, who Quoted the figures in answer to the opin ion, often stated, that restricted driving automatically resulted in a strong reduction in the traffic death frequency in Oregon. . The longest deathless period in Oregon traffic during the first half of the year was the eight-day period April 23-30. i H -' "An increase in the pedestrian fatality frequency is counter-bal ancing the decrease in fatalities in volving the collision of motor ve hicles or non-oollision accidents, Farrell said. "Pedestrian fatalities now constitute nearly 50 per cent of the total traffic toll, whereas in normal times they ; amount to around one-third.' - t. Farrell urged pedestrians to. ac cept the responsibility - for "their own safety: in traffic by walking with greater care. Before these two, jobs, she worked in San Francisco writ ing radio shows and newscasts for the Don Lee Mutual network. For five - years the Bachman family- lived in the Danzig free state. After a world tour, they alighted in Buenos Aires, Argen tina, and stayed awhile. Sergeant Bachman completed her own edu cation there. Then she split her time between the secretaryship of an American school and a report er's task on the daily newspaper, El Diaro. In 193S Miss Bachman worked for President Roosevelt at the Pan-American peace confer ence.
