She was born in Pike county, Ohio, where j she lived until five years of age. . She moved with her parents to -' ..Union.; county,. Illinois, and . in ' 1885 :i was. ' married to c Frank , Scharf, near J onesboro, Illinois, where they reared a family of seven children. In 1907 they amoved to. Oregon living in the vicinity of Salem. A son, Joseph, died in 1920 and' Mr. Scharf passed away in November, 1942. On May 12, 1935, they celebrated ' their golden wedding anaiver- sary. j -v Daughters are Mrs. Rose Crane - vof Turlock, California, and Mrs. ' Esther Van Laanen, Salem.
