Baker, 2690 Brooks street Salem. ; 4. -. Born in Wisconsin in 1855, he was the son of Van-anus and Sal ly Finnel Baker. His father died in 1859 and the widowed mother brought her three children across the plains in 1865, settling in Yam hill county. His two sisters, Mrs. Emma Galloway; of Salem and Mrs. Addle Hendrix of Carlton, died several years ago. . Mr. Baker married Nancy El mina Ferguson of a prominent pi oneer family of Yamhill county in 1881. She died in 1911. Three children were born of this union, of whom the son only survives. -. . The deceased spent all the ac tive years of his long life in far ming operations in Yamhill coun ty. The survivors of his immed iate family are the son, nine grand children and ten great grandchil dren.'
