A cousin of Lydia Sehifferer,
Konhia Leechler. from Los An
geles, Calif., is visiting with her
this week. She also visited other
Portland and Van
couver. Wash., before coming here
She plans to return to her home
next week.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Johnson have
moved into Mrs. Nellie Hamil
ton's house. Johnson drives
logging truck and formerly was
living In town.

grange will hold its regular meet
ing March 6 at 10:30 ajn. The

Bethel local of the Farmers Union
at the meeting on Monday night

was proposed for membership and
was accepted. George! E. Bahnsen
served as conductor. Rev. S. Ham-
rick was sondeader: with Mrs.
James H. Thompson at the piano,
Theodore G. Nelson discussed leg-
islative matters. j

Fred McCauley
Dies in Woodburn
WOODBURN Fred Andrew
McCauley, 67, died in his sleep
some time between Monday night
and Tuesday . morning. He was
found dead in bed at his home in
the Sleepy Hollow region.
He had arranged to take his
sister, Mrs. Nick Krebs of Broad
acres, to, town Tuesday morning
and when he failed to appear,
. Mrs. Krebs sent her son, Law
rence, to find out if anything was
wrong. Lawrence Krebs found the
door locked Land finally broke it
in to find his uncle had passed
away during the night
He was born in Yanktown, SD
February 14, 1876. He had lived in
Orecon three years, coming here
from Nebraska, and had lived In
the Sleepy Hollow district six
months.
He is survived by his sons. Paul
of Stockton, Calif., and John of
St. Paul, Minn., , and his sister,
Mrs. Krebs.
Funeral services , will be held
Saturday morning at St Luke's
catholic church at 9 o'clock. Burial
will be in St Luke's cemetery.
Recitation vof the Rosary will be
held at 8 pjn. Friday at the Ringo
chapel.
