stock market took on a recovery
tinge Friday for the first session
this week and favored rails and
Industrials rose" ' fractions to a
point or more, a handful to new
highs for the r year. -
The Associated Press average
of 60 stocks was up .3 of a point
at 40.1, the first upturn since last
; Saturday, i Transfers of 658,980
shares compared with 502,592 the
day before.
New 1942 peaks were touched
by Dome Mines, Pepsi-Cola, Gil-
lette. and Hecker products, among
, others. . .' -
Santa Fe jumped nearly 2 on
another dividend declaration but
cut this to. at the finish. Texas
A Pacific Railway, on the other
hand, dropped 1, apparently be
cause of some disappointment
over yesterday's late declaration

pears on Saturday, November 14.
The run lasted 74 days. 7 . , "

crew .was ' still . working on - car
rots -and the last canning would
be in about two weeks after which
no more canning would be done
until next spring.- The large Ray-
Maljng warehouse is stacked full
of canned goods and in addition
several empty store buildings in
Woodburn's business section have
been rented and filled with can
ned goods. A large part of this
pack of fruit and : vegetables- has
already been sold, most of it to the
armed forces. Z .

Hops Is Active :

Hop trade reports of. the depart
ment of agriculture indicated Fri
day that 1940 hops will be pur
chased as fast as they become
available to Oregon" markets.
Dealers have bid 60-65 cents per
pound for them subject to certifi
cation. '
Practically all 1942 hops ' have
been sold and growers - are re
luctant to contract, for 1943 hops.
