Betrothal Is Told ' Today Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bahn an announdas the engagement of hair daughter, Miss Eileen Maii tffl Bahn to Mr. Rex Lawson, f cm of Rev. and Mrs. C. W. Law son of Aberdeen, Wash. . Miss Rahn told the news some ', tfm ago, to fellow students at Northwest Christian college, trhere she and Mr. Lawson. are Students. They also take work at the University of Oregon. Mr. Lawson is a minister in the -Christian church in Trent, Ore Jon. Miss Rahn revealed September f as the date for the wedding,: which will be read in the Tirst Christian church in Salem. An old family friend, Rev. W. O. Livingstone of Vernonia will of ficiate, and' will be assisted by the groom's father. Barretts Hosts During Week Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Barrett have been-hosts to members of their family and friends the past week. Their son, Phil, left on Saturday for Sacramento, after pending a week at the family . home. He is assistant pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian church and came to Oregon to attend Synod in Eugene. Mrs. Amos Jann (their daugh ter Margaret) arrived from Oak land on Saturday night, where she has been with Mr. Jahn for' .'the past two weeks. He is with the coast guard. On Sunday the Barretts were dinner hosts to Mrs. Helen Bab cock and daughter Edith and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Millard of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Jahn will, leave for -.Seattle on Friday for the week-. . end and will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary at the . home of Mr. Barrett's people in Tacoma. ' Auxiliary Has Meeting Hal Hibbard auxiliary USWV held its regular meeting at the ; VFW hall Monday with Willow Evans, president in charge. Re ports were given of the recent convention at Astoria where . three members of the local or ganization, Mesdames Elsie Mc ' Clung, Lulu Humphrey and Jessie Bush Mickelson were elected to department offices. , Mrs. James Parker reported- that the local group doing Red Cross sewing each Tuesday had completed more than one hun dred garments. Money was pro . vided for five more army kits. The annual picnic may be a little unusual this year with some members working in the bean fields while others pre pare the picnic dinner. Hal Hibbard auxiliary will meet on the third Monday only of August and September. 1' Dr. and Mrs. V. C. Bushnell 'and daughter, Sharleen of Mos cow, Idaho, left Monday for home, after spending a week with Dr. Bushnell's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. New Committees Function Mrs. Anna Persey Morgan, chairman . of the hospitality committee of the Salem Business and Professional Women's club, called the first meeting of the new committee Tuesday night at the YWCA. Mrs. Homer Carpenter was -hostess, on Wednesday afternoon at an informal- afternoon tea given for Mrs. Esteua Rotz, a sister-in-law of Mrs. Abner, with whom she and her daughter, Mildred are staying; Mrs. Rotx and ' daughter are here .from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and will remain through August and September. On Friday, Mrs. Kline ' will give a luncheon for a group of the Salem girls Mildred's age, . Mrs. Eugene Menr (Babble Hendrickson) and two children, Nancey Jean end Richard, who arrived in Salem four weeks ago to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hendrickson, is leav ing Friday for her home in Mil waukee, Wis.
