Grain Prices
Rise Sli ghtly
CHICAGO, April 7 -flV Grain
prices tried Tuesday to extend
Monday s recovery but the at
tempt was feeble.
Led by corn and oats, which
responded to continued gains in
the hog market, where prices
reached new peaks for the past
18 years, the cereal market show
ed signs of advancing at times.
Corn rose as much as Vi cent and
oats cent, pulling wheat and
rye, out of an early decline of
about cent The bread cereals
registered gains' of about H cent
at one stage.
Later, however, the modest
buying power faded. Wheat clos
ed - cent lower than yester
day, May $1.23-, July $1H
Grain men said wheat, as well
as rye. continued to be depressed
by the favorable crop outlook In
most areas, scarcity of storage
space and lagging flour demand.
