Miss Clinton will speak on cooking, canning, dem onstrating the nutrition program and give 4H clothing helps and hints. Everyone interested in 4H work is invited to attend. Tuesday night Mrs. J. J. Lewis of Silverton . spoke at the PTA meeting. She spoke of the bicycle court in Silverton and recom mended it for all school districts. Three pictures were shown by Standley Church. Mrs. V. M. La Due gave a report of the Marion county convention and article by Mrs. Mary West from the national magazine, bpeciai music was provided. Officers for the new school year were elected and will be installed in April. Refresh ments were served. Visits From Redmond UNION HILL Mrs. Christie Merrifield, Redmond, is visiting at the ' home of her brother, C. E. Heater. Mrs. Merrifield has been in California. A. Hutchings Wednes day for the luncheon and study period. A chapter from the study book was given by Mrs. Hutchings leader. Others present were Mrs. W. D. Glasgow, Mrs. W. W. War ner and Lou Miller. Mrs. Ernest Powell was unable to be present Mrs. Charles Hart entertained the other study group Thursday. A covered dish luncheon was en joyed. Mrs. Eugene Finlay gave the book review, r Mrs. R. Valley Resident To Be Buried at Lebanon Rite LEBANON Final rites will be read at the Lowe mortuary today at 1:30 o'clock for Mrs. Mary Wil letta Short, who died at the fan ily home in the Foster neighbor hood March 18. Reverend Leroy Crossley, pastor of the 'Lebanon Baptist church of which she had been a member for many years, will officiate and interment is to be in the I OOF cemetery. The deceased was born in Sil verton, September 22nd, 1870, was married in the Waldo Hills coun try to John Short February 25, 1891 and came to this vicinity 88 years ago. The survivors include besides the widower, one son, Gordon Short, Foster, a half brother, Ar thur Watkins, Idaho, and four grandchildren, Helen Short at home; Joseph Short, Portland; Mary Short, Lebanon and John Short in the army. Rites Held for Mrs. Eppers WOODBURN Private services were held at the Ringo funeral chapel Wednesday afternoon for Minnie Eppers, 56, who died in Salem March 15. Minnie Eppers was born in Iowa, October 28, 1885. - She is survived by a daughter, Audrey Moore and two grand children, Portland; father, Louis Eppers,' Donald; sisters, Sophie Eppers, Donald, Ida Bushman, Gervais; Lflliam Simpson,'. All children from nine months to school age will be given medical and dental examinations, and children from four to six years of age will be immunized for a small charge. Due to war conditions health officials are particularly an xious Jo frwmniiigf children ef the pre-school ate. They are asking people of the elty to no- -tify friends and neighbors of this ellnlc. ? Miss Gillis stated that the Schick test for diptheria would not be given this month as has been previously reported. County health officials announced that too much expense would be in volved to give the Schick test to all school children in the county. Many parents called at the school Wednesday to consult the nurse in regard to the health of their children. Women who have registered for the home nursing class met at the city hall Tuesday. A room will be equipped at the city hall for demonstration purposes and will be patterned after a hospital room. All people who have vol unteered or been solicited for equipment will be notified through the press when to bring the articles to the city hall. A definite time was not set for the classes, but will be decided by the instructor, Mrs. E. Wendt An additional instructor may be secured so that two classes may be organized as 35 have already registered.
