MP. ANGEL The Legion's
birthday was celebrated in ML
Angel with a supper Tuesday, giv
en by tilt, auxiliary for the Le
gion members. Peter Gores, com
mander of the local post was pre
sented with a large cake, decorat
ed in the Legion colors and in
scribed with,the 23rd anniversary,
The cak'e was a gift from Mrs.
Albert Lanners, past, president of
the auxiliary, who - was likewise
celebrating her birthday that day.
J. Penner was a guest. All past
' commanders of - the ' post .were
seated at the honor table. Program
numbers consisted of a vocal du
et by June Ann ' and Flodine
Lucht, piano solo, Ralph Oswald
and a vocal solo by Elaine Pros-
aer. -v
The auxiliary decided to hold
the annual Easter egg hunt 'for
the children of Legionnaires and
auxiliary members at the Legion
hall at 2 pjn. on April S.
Marion county assembly will
fee. held at Mt Angel April 9.

flag flown from the Legion hall

At Mt. Angel
MT., ANGEL Funeral rites
for Susan Marie ' Ficker, ' infant
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Ficker, who died at the Hubbard
hospital Tuesday were held from
St Mary's Catholic church Wed
nesday at 1:30 p.m.
The child was born March 9.
Besides her parents she leaves one
sister, Judy, and her two grand
mothers, Mrs. Mary Ficker and
Mrs. Katherine Kruse.

bert Boyd, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Boyd, died in Salem Sunday
at the age of seven months.
He was born at Leavenworth,
Kan., and came to Oregon with
his parents three months ago. He
is survived by his mother and
father.

the Smith-Baun mortuary in In
dependence Tuesday with Bev. L.
H. Vickers officiating. Interment

den and. Ruth Enders have re
ceived word' that! their brother-in-law,
R e v . Robert Chrisman,
who . has been a missionary in
Thailand for a .number of years,
has been Interned somewhere out
of : Bankok, now in Japanese
hands. Their sister, with her two
small children were evacuated
some months ago and is now In
Glendale, Calif. -.- - "
i Another sister, ; Claire Enders,
a graduate of the Methodist hos
pital in Los Angeles, Is . now a
Lieutenant - in the army : nurse
corps and - reported ; for active
duty at Camp Roberts this week.
She is a member of an evacuation
unit organized at the Good Sa
maritan hospital in Los Angeles,
where she has been working. Af
ter six weeks of Intensive train
ing at Camp Roberts, the unit will
be sent ' wherever evacuees ' need
care. - : -.. .-
