Brown that Salem as a city is prepared to bear $25 a month as Its share of costs in maintaining the rationing board hearquarters here. Any office established in Salem for the county rationing headquarters would serve also as headquarters for the Salem local board. The court has been asked to share the costs also, and a re quest for a full-time clerk has gone in to the federal government Any such clerk , would be a civil service appointee O. L. Price, state rationing director, has nati fied John Heltzel, county admin istrator and chairman of the Sa lem board. Oregon-Idaho basketball game to night over KSLM, 8 o'clock. Fatalities Listed There were two fatalities due to industrial accidents in Oregon during the week ended February 26, the state industrial accident commission re ported Friday. The victims were Austin Kibler, Klamath Falls log ger, and John R. Grantham, Grants Pass, f aller. There were 781 Industrial accidents reported during the week. Savings Insured to $5,000.00 are earning 3 at Salem Fed eral, 130 South Liberty. Petitions Filed Completed pe titions for Fred W. Wilson, The Dalles, candidate for reelection as circuit judge of the seventh ju dicial district, Wasco and Hood River counties, were filed in the state department here Friday. The petitions contained 290 signatures of voters as against 197 required by law. Wilson has served as cir cuit judge of the seventh district for many years. Rummage, Alpha Psi Delta, 212 N. Two cases have been set for arguments in the supreme court next Thurs day. One involves construction of a law which provides that an owner may buy back his own property on which the county has foreclosed, provided he or she pays all delinquent taxes, plus 6 per cent interest. LIS Housing Act Features Told Features of title six of the fed eral housing act, applicable in designated defense areas were explained to the Salem Realty board Friday by Elton H. Thomp son, assistant manager of the Ladd & Bush-Salem branch of the US National Bank of Port land. Thompson said persons who build under title six do not have to be engaged in defense work to be eligible, and that houses under the title could be rented, not possible under title two, which number six closely re sembles. "Salem's big building problem will probably be lack of labor," declared Thompson, who stated even priority numbers do not guarantee the -holder can obtain materials. For Teachers In Keeping With th request of the state superintendent of public instruction that no time be taken from actual school hours for teachers institutes for the remain der of the year, Mrs. Agnes C. Exercises for the first week will be conducted by Father Sharp who will direct his talks particularly to the needs and problems of women in the parish. The second week of the mission will be in charge of Rev. Charles F. Suver, SJ. His particular ef forts will be devoted to the spiri tual welfare of Catholic men. Craftsmen Show First Aid Work Before an assembly Friday morning in the high school audi torium, the senior high school chapter of the Future Craftsmen of America demonstrated first aid, in preparation for entering the state contest March 9, in Portland. Easter Service Plans Subject Of Youth Meet Youth representatives from all Salem churches are to meet at the Salem YMCA Sunday at 3 p. m. to plan the annual Easter sunrise service at Belcrest Memorial park. The early morning service, which has become a tradition with Salem people, attracted more than 2000 last year. An organ concert from 5:45 a. m. until 6 will be played by Rev. Don Huckabee, West Salem Methodist church, and special music by young people from many Salem churches will be a part of the program. All Boy Scouts in Salem will be asked to assist in handling traffic and helping park the hundreds of cars which will come. Selection of the speaker and ap pointment of committees for the program and publicity will be made at the YMCA meeting Sun day afternoon. Permits Taken There were 214 revocations and suspensions of motor vehicle drivers' permits, for Oregon and out-of-state opera tors,, during December, Secretary of State Earl Snell reported Fri day. Ninety of the revocations were for driving while intoxicat ed. Of these 27 were in the Port land courts and 63 in other parts of the state.
