Cason, 207th military police, and asked to be taken into custody. 'I didn't think they needed me when I left," he said, "but now I want to get back into uniform." KEARNEY, N e b.-(j?)-County Attorney Oscar Drake dismissed a complaint against Frank Ross of Shelton, charging him with malici ous property destruction by put ting emery dust in a truck's crank case. Drake said Ross marified the state's ch;ef witness. INGLEWOOD, Calif.-(;P)-James Peacock, who raises parakeets on Byrd avenue, ran afowl a city ordinance until the council held the statute applied to ducks and not parrots. Red Cross First Aid, Sewing Units Formed In Valley Towns DALLAS rMrs. C. L. C r i d e r. war relief production chairman, gave a report on the Polk county Red Cross chapter, covering the work accomplished i the county since September 1. A total of 1857 garments have been made by volunteer workers in the various communities of the county. The last of these garments were shipped this week to New Jersey for transportation overseas. The Red Cross room will close Tuesday until after the holi days, unless there is an emer gency call. A meeting has been called for Monday at the high school audi torium at 8 p. m. to organize a class in Tied Cross first aid train ing. Dr. E. B. Bossatti, first aid chairman, Dr. Wayne J. Page, chairman of the medical group and Ed Gilmore, chairman of in structors will be in charge. INDEPENDENCE Women of Independence have completed their Red Cross quota for 1941 reports Mrs. W. R. Dale, dis tributing secretary of Polk county for Red Cross work. Garments completed here are as follows: women's dresses, 4; girls dresses, 29; boys shirts 13; over alls, 2 pair; women's shawls, 11; bed jackets, 11; operating gowns seven; convalescing gowns, seven; girl's skirts, 10; sox, 9 pair; stock ings, one pair; men's sweaters, four; women's sweaters, four; children's sweaters, four; mittens, six pair; small quilts, 10. A new allotment will arrive in January and all women are asked to assist in this work. STAYTON Two hundred nine dollars is the emergency Red Cross quota set for Stayton.
