The Elves troms recently rented the Lee Alfred home on Adams street. Henry Stevenson has gone to Hoquiam, Wash., to visit for sev eral months at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gaylord Adams. Grangers' News LYONS Mrs. Albert Julian, assisted by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Glen Julian, was hostess for the October meeting of the home economics club of the . Santiam valley grange. Mrs. Ed Taylor presided. It was voted to donate $50 to be used for the roof on the grange hall. Mrs. Cornsforth and Mrs. Gar rison were appointed to get table coverings for the dining room. The following program will be given: Betty Shelton, chairman; Naomi Morgan, afternoon activi ties; Donna Trask, classes for 13-year-olds; Stanley Brown, the Memorial Union; Billie Poole, ri-; fie practice; Clarence Bell, assem blies; Thelma Raph, living quar ters; Juanita Freres, entertain ment; Addie Snoddy, classes for the 14-year-olds and special an nouncements; Vernon Sinclair and Enoch Samples, will give the boy's impression of the summer school. A Scio hunting party used to considerable advantage a light steel vehicle constructed by Mylo Bartu of this city for conveying deer to camp. It proved a con venient arangement and much less laborious than man-handling a 236-pound buck, which Bartu bagged. Pasture facilities for Frank Pruitt's sheep have been enlarged by leasing a 60-acre tract of the J. Ogleabe farm near Shelburn. R. L. Wirth has leased his Scio residence property to Mr. and Mrs H. D. Grain Market Prices Rise CHICAGO, Oct 18.-4P-Buyer returned to the grain pits Satur day, bidding prices up to mora than S cents while soybeans rose as much at 8. The general exten sion of the recovery that has vir-' tually wiped out extreme losses suffered in Thursday's break. Wheat scored maximum gains of more than S cents at one stage, oats almost 2 cents, rye more than S cents, corn a' cent and soybeans S to cents. This; put wheat and oats within about 1. to 2 cents of the dosing prices on Wednesday while corn has more than recov ered all of the loss since that time.
