Angel post of the American Legion held installation j&f new officers at the meeting in the Memorial hau Tuesday. Dr. E. J. Corcoran acted as installing officer. The new men to take office are: Peter F. Gores, commander; Fred Lucht Jr- first vice-corn- : ; dander ; Frank Durschmidt, sec ond vice-commander; A. G. Trae- ger, adjutant; Jos. Faulhaber, fi nance officer: . Albert Lenners, chaplain; Charles Hafner, sergeant at arms; A. P. Miller, assistant sergeant-at-arms; Dr. E. J. Cor coran, service officer. i: ; The Lesion auxiliary will hold .Its ; installing ceremonies October 1 with the Silverton nit in charge. ;r The outgoing commander, Jos. Faulhaber, was presented with a past commander's badge by Dr. Corcoran in the name of the post The regular twice a month meet ings have now been resumed by both post and unit ' Commander Gores appointed his Swegle Woman Trades Land SMEGLE Mrs. Lloyd Park has traded her last one-half acre on . Garden road to Leo Childs for 30 acres joining their ranch on 99E, south" of Salem. This makes Mr. and Mrs. Park a total of 148 acres. Mr. and 'Mrs. Harold Buright who lived in Mrs. Park's small home en the one-half acre have moved Into Salem. Mrs. Elma Dickey and family have been having mumps. Jimmy Hensell, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hensell, sang his first song over the radio the last day of the fair. The. ladies of the Garden Road Neighborhood Club will have no September meeting as several members are helping with the hops. The R. G. De Sart hop yard has only 30 acres, but help has been so that they will not quite finish this week if it does not rain any more. The hops are still in good condition and of very good quality. - ' Divorce Asked in Suit at Dallas DALLAS Ed Nygard has filed suit , in the circuit court of Polk county against Ellen Nygard. ; The couple Was married in Portland in October, 1922. There Is one daughter, of whom the plaintiff asks the future control and custody. - Ray McKey, Dallas, is attorney for the plaintiff. committees for the' coming year as zouows: auditing committee, Fred Prosser, Fred Lucht Jr., and Earl Birtchett; dance committee, A. P. Miller, Fred Lucht Jr., and Albert Lenners; blood donors committee, Dr. E. J. Corcoran and Dr. J. E. Webb. The regular dances for married people are being resumed by the Legion, the first one being sched uled for September 26. , Dr. Corcoran, who has been appointed district membership chairman; announced that a i membership drive will begin shortly and that the post expects to be over the top by Armistice Day. Last year Mt Angel won the membership trophy for the largest increase over Quota. The 'post now has an official bugler in the person of Virgil Ryan, a new member. All the members were" notified that Com rade Henry Michels is seriously ill at the Veterans' hospmital in Portland. In preparation for the installa tion, the president. Mrs. Anna ' Lenners, appointed Mrs. Theresa Drysdale, Mrs. Sibley. Mrs. Chas. Hafner and Mrs. J. Ewert on a committee to arrange for lunch for that night Wednesday. October 1. was named as "clean-up day" at the Memorial hall. The question of helping the hot lunch program for school children was discussed. A benefit card party and dance was tentatively agreed upon and Mrs. Cletus Butsch, Mrs. Anna Len ners, Georgia Webb, and Eliza beth linger - appointed to meet with other organizations to see what could be arranged. Ivo Bauman, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Bauman left Sunday night for Washington, D. C. to attend the Catholic university there. Enroute he will stop in St Louis, Mr to visit with an ancle. He will work for his master's degree, majoring in Spanish- American history. He hopes to spend the following year in South America, getting first-hand ac quaintance with his subject. Bau man received his B. A. at M.t An gel college last June. A farewell party was given in his honor at the home of his par ents Friday night. His sister, Eustelle Bauman, acted as hostess. Guests included Maxine Bern- ing, Laura Bartnik, Thrasilla Barr, Margaret Frank. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Scharbach. Felix Schultz. Walter Poepping, Gregory Frank, Jack Eberle, Virgil Gooley, Rev.
