CLUB YEAR OPENS Convention I Calls' Junior Workers Named The supreme convention of PEO Sisterhood to be held in Victoria, BC, September 9, 10 and 11 will attract a number of Salem members. y Mrs, Clare' A. Lee, president of chapter BC will be the. offi cial delegate from Salem. . The convention is biennial and hon ored guests are present and past state presidents. . j Mrs. . Louis Anderson past state president of North Dakota, is also a delegate. Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Anderson will be registered at convention headquarters, the Empress hoteL This is the .fisst, time the convention has' ever been held outside of the United States. ; Other members of chapter BC planning to attend ' are Mrs. Harry Scott, Mrs. E. A. Brown and Mrs. Carl Emmons. They plan to go by car and will leave on Monday. Mrs. Charles A. Sprague of . chapter G will go north for the convention and Is a past state president Mrs. B. F. Williams, past state president of Nebraska, but not affiliated with a Salem chapter, will also attend the. con vention. Miss Etta White and Miss Ann Boentje of chapter AB will be among those attending an in an other car will go Mrs. Ray -Smith, Mrs. Frank A. Elliott and Mrs. William E. Kirk, all of chapter AB. The Art Center exhibition of 200 photographs of historic arms and armament, which was shown at the state fair as part of the US navy exhibit, -has been re turned to the Center and will be part of the week. This collection of photographs, obtained from the Baltimore Mu seum of Art, together with a re lated exhibition of shiDs and air- objects, will comprise the "Arms - and Armament exposition" ( scheduled at the Art Center Sep , tember 8 to 27. The three weeks program will also "feature weekly radio talks, numerous evening lectures and motion picture programs. The coming week will be in, charge of the marines, September 15 to 20 will -be observed as Army week, and the third as Navy and Coast Guard week. Marine week will be officially opened Tuesday by Major James B. Hardie, who will speak on the Art Center radio program at 2:15 Tuesday afternoon and present a lecture and motion . picture program at the Art Cen ter that night at 8 o'clock A second motion picture and lec ture program will be given Fri day night at the Center. Gallery space, is still being re served for a few additional ship models. Any person who has In his possession shop models or other military pieces of historic interest and would be willing to lend them to the Art Center during the defense show is ask ed to call the Center as soon as possible.
