(I 1 Wheat Prices Advance Farm Program Has Beneficial Effect 'on Mart News CHICAGO, May a-Legisla- tive news from Washixigtori re garding the farm program had a rousing effect on the grain market Saturday. 5 Reports that the senate agri culture committee had voted un animous approval of 85 per cent of parity prices on governonent loans on wheat, corn, cotton to bacco; and rice, shot wheat prices up 3'i cents on the abbreviated Saturday trading session and brought particularly sharp? price gains to soybeans and lard. Under present benefit payments, the adoption of the 85 per cent of parity loans would bring farm ers approximately $1.15 a bushel for wheat and 87 cents a bushel for com on the farm.- With even the prospects for such prices be ing established, buyers appeared in the grain pits as if by magic. As a result, wheat closed strong, 2 -3 cents higher than Friday's finish, May 94V--94, July 93-i. Reid Murdoch Packs Grass? Some locally grown asparagus has already been canned at the Reid Murdoch plant and a:; crew of approximately 80 women and 40 men are now employed in pack ing asparagus received from Yaki ma, according to Ray A. Yocom, manager. ) Marshall strawberries will prob ably be ready for caiining during the week of May 12, depending principally on the weather, Yocom said, and gooseberries may arrive during the week starting the 19th. The rain of the past few days was just what the cane fruits needed, and was believed to. be very bene ficial. . : - :,.!' ': THE LONE RANGER ck -s r ( BULLET COME FROM THIS WrY J I HANG IT.
