King wood American Legion auxiliary met at the Legion hall Thursday evening. Plans were made for a Moth er's day dinner to be given at the hall May 8 and to invite ladies from the Methodist old people's home in Salem as special guests. , A meeting will be held in Port land May 1 for auxiliary mem bers, at which the national pres ident will be present. A luncheon will be served at the Heathman hotel for visiting delegates. The annual poppy sale will be held May 23 and 24. The auxil iary will cooperate with the Le gion in sponsoring a strawberry festival, for ; which the date will be announced . later. Mrs. Harry Hunt and Mrs. Vent - Axelson joined, the unit. Other - members' : present were Mrs. George Combs, Mrs. Floyd White, Mrs. E. J. Dietz, Mrs. Kasper Neiger, Mrs. P. R. Orch ard, Mrs. Karl Mobley, Mrs. Ted Lengele, Mrs. Farmie Smith, Mrs. William Reid, Mrs. O. B. Long, Mrs. Ray Lacey, and a guest, Joan Orchard. The post joined the auxiliary for refreshments, and Mrs. Karl Mobley, Mrs. E. J. Dietz, Mrs. Floyd White, Mrs. Kasper Neiger and Mrs. P. R. Orchard served as hostesses. The Jolly Cookers club met at the home of Mrs. Leighton Dash iell on Thursday. The girls stud ied food prices and a prize was presented to Delores Hathaway for having prepared the most recipes since the last meeting. Fred -Kuhn left last week for an indefinite visit with 'relatives in Nebraska. WEST SALEM The WSCS of the Methodist church is having an all day sewing- meeting at the home of Mrs. D. T. Hamm entertained the members of the Kingwood Garden club at her home on Kingwood avenue Thursday with a dessert luncheon. Henderson returned this week from a, trip to Nebraska to visit relatives. The city planning board, which was appointed by Mayor Guy Newgent at the last council meet ing, met Wednesday for an or ganization z meeting., Tom - Dalke was elected i president and John S.
