EA-S TOCAV THEY tfOSTA your 6o4 ; I Wheat Spends Nervous Day Rain in Southwest Is Bearish Factor ; -for Grain Market CHICAGO, March 12-(Ay-Profit taking gained popularity in the nervous wheat pit today as prices drifted for: losses bf a cent or niore. j : Selling was encouraged by the fact that gains of 9 . to 10 cents had. been registered since estab lishment of five-months lows on February IT. 'More moisture in the southwest, government ex pectations that current prices may encourage redemption of loan grain, reports of increased sales at some points and indica tions that immediate British re quirements under the . lend-lease law may not include grains were bearish factors. Wheat dropped - cent to initial trades, later rallied under leadership of May cbntracts, which at one time sold as much as . cent above the previous close, but then tumbled anew aft er mid-session. Closing prices were Ti-lVs lower than yester day, May 86-85, July 82y. At one time May sold at a top of 87 Y, highest since January. RacingS tallion by Or ego n Breeder t Evans Cinco Woollen, 5-year-old stan dard bred racing stallion expected by some to make as bi a name on the . harness tracks as- Mioland has as a-thoroughbred, has been sold by Owner Charles Evans of Salem to S. F. Palin of Aiken, SC. Both are Oregon bred horses. The horse left by rail from Can by Wednesday, reports Dr. W. H. Lytic, chief of the , animal divi sion, state department of agricul ture. He reports that Palin expects to race Cinco' Woollen over the eastern and. middle states grand circuit tracks and that the horse is -expected- to-have chance at the Goshen- meeting in- New York Cityrwhich is the Kentucky derby for harness horses. ; Cinco was developed on the state fair track at Salem and on the Canby track by. Ezra Tilden. Tilden, by the way, is probably more disappointed than jubilant at Cinco's sale, for he has said that in this horse he saw his only chance to ride behind a two minute horse. - ' " Cinco "Woollen's sale was con summated' in fasti time, and thereby ' hangs an : amusing tale. When Palin called Evans by tele phone" earlier this week, Evans who had never heard of Palin, thought some of his friends were pulling a fast one. A 10 -minute telephone - conversation brought Evans' promise to send a wire the next morning on whether or not he would sell the horse. He did, and now the stallion Is on the way south. Evans has a full brother to Cinco and this horse has shown remarkable speed. He also, has 12 other harness horses of .more or less the same breeding.
