Beekeepers Are Judged Farmers Beekeepers of Oregon may now get farmers' licenses f o r their trucks as result of an opinion Just handed down by Attorney Gen eral I. H. Van Winkle, and re quested by the state department of agriculture. Beekeepers have been concern ed about this matter, for under an earner opinion it was held that operation of apiaries 1 was not farming. However, the present ruling, based upon additional in formation, classes apiarists as ag ricultural farmers. The bee farmers have contend' ed that use of trucks Is necessary in their business as they must move to seasonal locations as the flow of honey begins in different sections. Oregon has about 45,000 colon es of bees, with a honey produc tion of about one and one-half million pounds and valued at 5,000, the state department of agriculture pointed out in the ad ditional information supplied to the attorney general. In addition, bees pollinate Oregon seed, rar- den and fruit crops woTth more than thirteen millicn dollars. Rain Helps Crops AUMSVILLE CroDS. rarrlAna and berries have been materially helped here by recent rainfall. Strawberry growers are busily en gaged marketing the crop. They have not been hindered f mm work by the rain. Quotations at Portland PORTLAND Ore., June 8. (AP) Etfs: Largo eitras 17; standards 18; medium extras 15; standards 1V4.
