While this tended to keep many traders on the sidelines, the late sell-off forced transactions to limit losses. In this connection, many trad ers paid particular attention to developments following a Memor ial day meeting of board of trade officials with government author ities in Washington. A report that Washington authorities were considering a request of exchange men that they assent to removing of i minimum prices for grains established as of the, close of May 18 after the sharp price tumbles of that week brought no comment here. Prices of most grains recently have held several cents above the minimums. Wheat closed about 3 cents over today. Prunes " was the only line not completely cleaned up and such a demand is In sight for this fruit that holders are fortunate, it is said. An average size pack was put up In 193 9, with Oregon's fruit pack amounting to 4,673,573 cases and Washington's 3,504,571 cases. Oregon packed 3,075,171 cases of vegetables while Wash ington packed- 2,910,799 cases. Peas led the vegetable pack in the two- states with' 3,389,559 cases, with green beans second with 1,0.55,548 cases. Carrots was third and beets came fourth. Pears was the heaviest item In the fruit line with 2.831,120 cases packed jln the two states. Prunes came a j close second with 2,213, 149 cases. 'Apples came third, cherries fourth and peaches fifth. Blackberries in the two states am ounted to 209,338 cases.
