Red mond. Wheeler, Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties, and C. R. Jester, Grants Pass. Josephine and Jackron counties. Only 1.17 points divided first and fourth place. Judges of the contest will select a winner each three months, based on the quarter's showing. The Judges are: P. M. Brandt, Corval lis, professor of dairy husbandry. Oregon State college; C. E. Grelle, Portland, chairman Oregon Milk Control board; Cecil Edwards, Sa lem, secretary to Governor gprague, and J. D. Hickle, Salem, director of the state department of agriculture. "Oregon has never bad as pure milk, over the state as a whole, as at the present time." the delighted foods and dairies chief declared as he viewed the figures compiled on bacteria counts from milk all over the state to determine -the trophy winner. The trophy is Metzger's personal contribution. "Without the fine cooperation of dairymen in all the districts, the fine showing would not have been possible." Metzger said. He pointed out that one dairy produced milk with bacteria county of only 100 per cc. and that a considerable number came below 500. The state law allows up to 30.000 bacteria per cc for grade "A" milk. ! The trophy will be presented - to Caples at the Forest Grove chamber of commerce meeting May 13 by Cecil Edwards, repre senting Governor-Sprague.
