Aurll 26.AJFt-Be bavins In what acme traders said was typical war market fashion, wheat prices today slumped two cents a bushel to the lowest lev i fnr Aoril 13. showins re action of about fire cents from the recent three-year highs. Selling was largely based on re ceipt of food to neavy rains In the domestic southwest together with prospects of more moisture in some hard what localities and itvhr In the United States grain belt overnight. . Heavy re ceipts at some terminals, particu larly in the spring wheat xone, also added to the weakness. However, today's downturn, as well as the, weakness shown ear lier this week, came as no par ticular surprise to many traders wh said the market was entitled tn a. reaction after the sharo up turn that followed the invasion of Scandinavia. Prices now are about 4 cents above quotations just prior to that war development. Wheat close cents low er than yesterday, at the lowest of the session, with May $1.07- and July J1.6-U. Corn was off V-. May 3-. July , Hedging of newly marketed grain figured in the wheat trade. The 12 principal terminals re ceived 1,311,000 bushels, more more than doable receipts a year ago and at Minneapolis and Du- luth-volume totaled 647 cars com pared with 164 a year ago. How ever,, trade reports said demand for cash rrain at Minneapolis was the best in months, indicating commercial dealers were aDsoro- lng supplies readily. Portland Livestock Japanese Beetle Quarantine Holds J.'"; . The federal bureau of entom ology and plant quarantine has advised the state department of agriculture that its quarantine on - the Japanese beetle will be con tinued, and also additional east ern and southern territory brought under it. This quarantine was subject of a hearing in the national capital last February, at which western states urged that the federal .quarantine be continued. - The Japanese beetle has not made Its way west, and for this treason the Oregon department of agriculture, as well as other western ones, has been hopeful that the federal control would be continued. This hope was based on the feeling that it would be Improbable that the several states could reach a uniform method of procedure' against the beetle.
