Linn Churches Have Convention LEBANON The tenth quarter ly Linn county convention of the Churches of Christ was held In Brownsville Monday, with Rev. Lawrence Bixler of Lebanon, the president. In charge. The general convention theme was "Christian Unity." Dr. Ervin F. Leake, pas tor of the Hood River Christian church was the guest speaker. Other leaders and speakers were Orville F. Mick, pastor of the Al bany Christian church, and Clar ence Reynolds, pastor of the First Christian church of Corvallis. Special music numbers were giv en by Vernon Kullowati of Al bany and Dean Stephens, former ly of Lebanon, and now a student at Northwest Christian college in Eugene. The Lebanon Christian church held a brotherhood dinner Wed nesday, In company with church es all over the world. A part of the world wide fellowship pro gram was the reading of mes sages from churches In other parts of the world. Greetings were read In the Lebanon church from Japan, China. Philippine Is lands, Mexico, Porto Rico and New Zealand, as well as many parts of the United States. Bereans to Meet LEBANON The Berean society will meet Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Hugh Olds for the last program in the old yearbook. The devotional part of the meeting will be led by Mrs. Olds, the president, who Is also In charge of the missionary program. A NO EL The annual stockholders meeting of the Mt. Angel Flax Co., held In the Mt. Angel auditorium Tuesday, was attended by a number of distin guished speakers, among -them John Klrkwood of Belfast, Ire land, who Is here In the interests of flax and linen, E. J. Griffith, state director of the WPA, Paul DeCorning, production manager and member of the board of di rectors of the Jantzen Knitting mills of Portland, and Harry Hoyle, also of the Jantzen Knit ting mills. The men talked on various sub jects pertaining to the flax Indus try. Father Alcuin also spoke en thusiastically about flax and ad vocated courage and belief in the project. The flax plant Is operating at present, though with a small crew. The election of three directors whose terms expired this year re sulted in the reelection of Joseph Bernt and Fred Klein and the re placement of M. Weinacht, who is ill, by Henry Torbend. Albert Dlehl and Albert Boch sler are the other members of the board of directors. The board later voted to reelect Joseph Bernt, chairman and Fred Kelln, vice-chairman.
