Prince Skander, chateau formerly occupied by the Bilyeu Families Reunite at Park Henry Bilyen of Crabtree President; Creek Name Change Protested ALBANY (Special) The 10th annual conclave of the Bil yeu clan with '350 members and visitors present was an event of Sunday in Bryant park, Albany. Henry Bilyeu of Crabtree was chosen president with Jacob Bil yeu of Jordan vice president and Lena Bilyeu Miller of Salem sec retary-treasurer. A committee was appointed to call on the state highway commis sion concerning the change of name of Bilyeu creek in Linn county to Neal creek. John Bil yeu of Tigard pointed out that Bil yeu creek has borne that name for more than 75 years. He said re cent maps of Oregon bore the name Neal creek, but that the Neals settled on the upper section of the creek only many years after a large number of Bilyeus settled nearby. George M. DeVaney, husband of the late Addle Bilyeu, was pre sented the large silver cup tor the honor of being the eldest member present He is 81 years old. For 10 years past no blood member of the clan has received the honor. Elizabeth Siddons Dies at Crabtree ALBANY Mrs. Elizabeth Sid dons, 70, of Crabtree died at 2:10 a. m. Monday following a linger ing illness. The Fisher funeral home of Albany is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Willamette park, Albany. Elizabeth Siddons was born March 3, 1869, in Kentucky, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Allen. She was married to James CulbertEon In the east. In 1904 they came to Oregon, where Mr. Culbertson died in 1911. In 1927 she was married to C. Siddons, who survives. Mrs. Siddons made her home in North Bend for 30 years after coming to Oregon. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors besides the widower are five children, Maude May Grif- f en, Tennessee Grant, D. Lull. Daivis and Stella Mathews; 18 granchlldren and nine great grandchildren. IMrs. McCormick's Last Rites Today LEBANON-Mrs. Elizabeth Mc- Cormick died at her home in Leba non Monday at the age of 88 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. with the N C. Lowe mortuary in charge. . She is survived by her children, Daniel A., Mary L. and Cyrus R. McCormlck, all of Lebanon; John R. McCormick, Portland; Mrs. Margaret Todt of Los Angeles, Mrs. Anne Buchanan, Santa Cms. Calif., and Andrew C. McCormick, Husnm, Wash., besides -nine grandchildren, one great grand child and three sisters. LARCEXK CHARGED SILVERTON John Wolfe waa picked up here Tuesday by state police on a larceny charge. Silverton Guard Out of Matches SILVERTON For the first time in nine years, Silverton's company of the Oregon national guard will not be represented at the national Camp Perry rifle matches. Competitors from the Silverton Howitzer company, none of whom qualified, were Harlan Anderson la member of last year's team; Harold Odman, Donald Palmer and Kenneth Palmer. Angel Flax Festival Looms; Grand Parade Route Sunday Outlined MT. ANGEL Arthur W. Holmes, president of the Flax arians and general chairman of the Flax Festival August 18 20, expressed himself well satisfied with festival prospects in his report at the Business Men's club luncheon Monday. He said the committees were all clicking and he was confident the festival would be a success. Holmes requested that all Flaxarians report at the andito- O rium. in uniform at 7:45 p. m Friday to take part In the coro nation ceremonies. Flaxarians will also form a guard of honor for the queen's float in the grand parade Sunday. Mr. Holmes also commended highway signs drawing attention to the Flax Festival. Parade Route Mapped Frank Hettwer, parade chair man outlined the course of Sun day's parade. The parade will form on St. Mary's school grounds, march down College street to Main past tne review- lng stand at the city hall, over to Railroad street, nortn to Shepnera s corner, tnen corner, tnen across to the highway and up Main to College and thence back to the school ground, thus passing the reviewing stand twice. More decorated floats could be entered in the Kiddies' Parade according to Leonard Fisher. Louis Schwab stated tbat tne bicycle race, Sunday at 1:30 p. m. will have two divisions. The boys' race will start at the Hazel Dell school on the Silverton-Mt. Angel highway and end at the ball park while the girls' race will start 15 minutes later from the academy. The investigating committee on the Oregon Hospital Service so ciety reported, and J. T. Ban- man, chairman, voiced hla ap proval of the plan. The highway chairman, Alois Keber, stated Mt. Angel had had splendid cooperation from the county court in its road problem. Non-skidding surface has been applied on the Mt. Angel-Scotta MUls road from Meridian road to the Mt. Angel city limits, the bridge on the Gervais road haa been repaired, and the Otto Has- Einir road will be graveled this faU. Jefferson People Going East, South JEFFERSON Harold Wynd left Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wynd. of Eugene for IUinois, his former home, where he will visit a brother and others. Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson, accompanied by their son, Elmer, and wife of McCleary, Wash., left Saturday on a motor trip, to Cali fornia where they will visit Mr. Henderson's brother. Resumes Operations GATES - The Frittzl logging company resumed operations Mon day after a few days' shutdown due to fire hazards. Thursday afternoon the Im provement club held its regular meeting. Plans were made and committees appointed for the an nual Harvest Festival and for a series of monthly entertainments for the purpose of raising funds.
