Hedy lamarr and Robert Taylor in "Lady of the Tropics', starting today at the Elsinore theatre. The second film Is Bert Wheeler and Marie Wilson la "Cowboy Quarterback. , Huckleberry Finn," sequel to 'Tom Sawyer," now playing at the Hollywood theatre. The picture has caught the full flavor of Twain's whimsical -humor and deep understanding of human kind. The adventures ot the river boy who' aids a runaway slave In an attempt to reach a free state; their travels up the river on a raft; their adventures with the rascally "King' and "Duke," a pair of crooks, are all faithfully portrayed under the deft direction ot Richard Thorpe. The ranking comedy highlight is the absurd "Romeo and Juliet" performance with Walter Connolly as Romeo and Mickey, in girl's clothes and make-up, as Juliet. Dramatic highlights are his ex posure of the crooks to save Lynne Carver and Jo Ann Sayers, playing heiresses, from being robbed, and the sequence where Rex Ingram, as the slave, carries the boy, bit ten by a snake, back to medical aid, knowing it means his return to slavery. The scenes, filmed on location along the Sacramento river, are beautifully picturesque. The pic ture follows the book with abso lute fidelity. Slovakians Stage Anti-Jewish Riot BRATISLAVA, Slovakia, Aug. 12-(53)-A crowd of youths, for the second successive night, staged anti-Jewish demonstrations here tonight, beating up in the streets everyone they encountered who resembled a Jew. The mob activities followed an attack last night on two syna gogues and the beating of Jews in public cafes. Police reinforce ments were placed on duty in Bra tislava's ghetto following these demonstrations. Tonight the youths rushed through the streets and forced their way into a Jewish club where they smashed furniture and man handled guests. Jews were driven into the streets from several cafes. Police finally appeared and dis persed the mob. . Four Are Injured As Car Overturns ENTERPRISE. Aug. 12 (flV Mrs. R. Morris, Enterprise, was critically injured and three others slightly Injured today when a car -driven by Harold E. Ander son. Portland, overturned on a sharp- carve nine miles north of here. .
