Early prices gains ot as much as 1H cents were cut almost in half . later but the market closed with net advances ranging from ' io 1 cent. Corn, which suited higher with wheat,' stamped almost 2 cents before the finish to new ows for the past six years. It was the first definite reversal of the recent steep wheat market decline in several sessions. Both foreign aad domestic commercial and consuming interests acted io take advantage ot the low level of world prices and sales of wheat to millers and exporters aggregated the best volume in some time. Early reports indicated total North American export business was around 2,000,000 bushels, halt Canadian wheat and half US, bat later messages from export inter . ests were inclined to reduce the figures on the domestic grain and Increase Canadian sales. At the close, September and De cember wheat were .Quoted at and 2- respectively. Corn closed -Tk lower than yes terday. Penydale School Buys Student Bus PEERYDALE ' The ichool board met July IS to buy a school bus. Four bodies were represented: Superior, Bender, Pacific car aad Foundry and Wentwin. Six chas sis were represented: G.M.C., Mack, Ford, Chevrolet, Federal and International. The board chose the Interna tional chassis with Bender body of two and a half ton sixe and 54 passenger capacity. The bid was taken by J. E. Houk for 9Z.544.50. The board has not chosen a dri ver for the baa yet. Whitehead Rites Set for Thursday SILVERTON Funeral services for Oscar Franklin Whitehead hare been set for Thursday at 2 p. m., from the Larson and Son mortuary here. Rev. Frank Zook officiating and Interment in Be thany cemetery. SILVERTON Oscar Franklia Whitehead, 40, died at his Salem home Monday morning. Survivors are the widow. May; three daugh ters, Clara, Frances aad Margaret and one son. Franklin. He was born in Nebraska, May S, 1899, but had lived at Silverton and Sa lem for over 12 years.
