new section this year, is open to
an unlimited number of students
from each school while In the
championship dlrlsion each school
Is entitled to only one contestant
Every contestant in the champion
ship series will speak in the first
two rounds before any elimina
lions are made. . t r:.

Judges in the championship series
and the Willamette speech stu
dents are Judges In . the junior
series. The total . registration ex
ceeds that of a year ago and 21
schools hare entered. The contests
will be held In .Waller and Eaton
halls with the latter headquarters.
The public is inrited to hear these
contests.
Registration will close Friday at
S o'clock with the first rounds of
interpretations, - orations and ex
tempore in he afternoon. In the
evening, round two will be held
for the various events with an
nouncement of results of prelim
inary; rounds. Saturday morning
the semi-finals will be held, with
the finals in the afternoon, begin
ning at 1 o'clock. The time for the
rounds of speaking in the Junior
series will be ' arranged and an
nounced after the complete regis
tration this afternoon.

An old sore, mud in the Rogue
river, was irritated anew today
with a demand by the Curry coun
ty district attorney. -Grant J. Will
iams, that the river coordination
board, created at the last legis
lature, start work.

extremely muddy at Gold Beach
and that while many salmon 'were
being caught near here, few were
