ANGEL Annual Initiation ceremonies of the local council of the Knights of Columbus and the banquet were held at St. Mary's school Sunday. A class of 12 new members were received into the Mt Ansel council. The Portland degree team was In charge of the initiation and ad ministered all three degrees. Douglas Harris of Mt Angel was toastmaster at the banquet. I Principal speakers included Gene I Mclntyre of Portland, past state I deputy; Ed J. Bell of Stayton, state deputy; C. A. Herbert Elliott Final Rites Set PERRTDALE Funeral services for Herbert James Elliott, ft, who died Saturday in a Portland hos- pital, will be held at the Dallas Methodist church Thursday at 2 p.m., with interment at Belcrest Memorial park, Salem Mr. Elliott had been active in the Methodist church, the rranre. the Masonic lodge of Amity, the Eastern Star and AI Kader shrine of Portland. He started to work in the flour mill at Perrydale in 1900 and eight years later became sole owner. Under his direction the business enlarged to the pres ent feed, seed and grain business at both Ballston and here. Detroit Is Given Side Camp of CCC DETROIT Marys Creek CCC camp has a side camp assignment of SO men with 25 boys already here augmented Monday by 25 from Camp Cascadia. Roy Allen is in ' charge of this side camp, The buildings are being repaired and rebuilt, the kitchen and mess hall have also been repainted. The entire camp from Cascadia will move in here about April 15. Dr. and Mrs. A. J. McCannel from Cascadia were in Detroit Friday. They have rented an apartment from M. C. Goodman and wil move here as soon as the CCC camp from Cascadia moves here. He is the Camp doc tor. Detroit high school held a stu dent body party in the music room of. the high school Friday night wtih the- faculty. N. Walter Shelby and Mtes Mildred Wholl , assisted by Mrs. Shelby, In charge. Iinn..a..i Brothers Injured When Car Hits Dead Horse SILVERTON Frank Lan ham was able to leave the hos pital Monday and Lloyd G. Lan ham was able to return to bis home Sanday following an ao . cident early Sunday morning when the two brothers hit m dead horse on the highway near the Abiqua east of Silver ton. Both men sustained cuts about the head. Lather Moore, who ran into the horse in the first place, was uninjured but some injury was done to his car, it waa reported. The horse died as result of im pact with Moore's car. Shower Is Given For Miss Rambsy SCOTTS MILLS A pre-nuptial shower was given for Miss Ger trude Rambsy at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. A. L. County Meet Held by PTA Next Gathering to Be Held at Silverton in May; Reports Heard TURNER The county PTA held its March meeting at Turner school auditorium Saturday after noon,' with president Mrs. T. J. Roubal, Silverton, presiding. Mrs. L. Bergsvik, Salem, is recording secretary. Englewood, Grant, Sll vertn and Aumsville units were among the largest and most active groups present. Mrs. Roubal was elected dele gate to the spring aemi-ann ual convention at Klamath Falls. The next county meeting will be ln Silverton early in May, when the nominating committee, Mrs. J. A Smith of Aumsville, Mrs. H. N. Hunsaker. Salem, and Mrs O. L. Downelly, will report. Mrs. Bergsvik Speaker Mrs. Bergsvik gave a talk on publicity and Mrs. Roubal showed large safety posters made by school children. A chorus of IS voices. Taylor; Leslie, Mrs. W. F. O'Leary; Swegle and Grant Robinsons Make Strenuous Drive VALSETZ W. P. Miller's mother, Mrs. Lydia Miller, died Thursday night at his sister's home in Dallas. Mrs. Lydia Miller celebrated her 100th birthday an niversary last New Year's day. The Robinson boys, David and Bruce, returned from a trip to Tennessee this week. They took turns driving continuously day and night and covered over 3000 miles in three days. The Rev. G. G. Edwards is hold ing a two-weeks service here at the schoolhouse. He is a returned missionary from India and has a pastorate at Falls City. Cal Schlador and Mayor Zetta Schlador.- The two Elda Eggart California during the period that both men were stationed near there. They had not seen each other since. Because illness confined Schla dor to his CCC camp at Florence, he was unable to join the group. Mr. Schlador was reported suf fering from influenza, and it was said a number of boys in his camp were also ill. Spousta had been with the lecal headquarters of the Shell company as distributing sales man for a year and a half' He came here from Shell's Portland headquarters.
