The large number of patrons, now numbering 2200, 40 o. which were were added to the list dur ing the 4ast ? 1 months, make it necessary to hold a two-day meet ing to accomodate all. Two tickets have been sent out to each patron. These tickets bear the date on which saK pa tron is . entitled to attend and enjoy the usual sumptious din ner. Should the patron prefer to attend the other day he la privileged to . return his tickets and have them exchanged. Dinner la . Fred Shemanek Given Sweepstakes Honors; Council Meetg LEBANON Judges of the outdoor lighting contest sponsor ed by the Lebanon Garden club awarded first prize to Mrs. T. W. Munyan on her design of "Three Candles"; second to Mrs. Roy Gunderson on a door design; and third to Mrs. Phil Lanning on a door wreath. Mrs. Freda Sheman ek won sweepstakes on her ar rangement of "Three Wise Men." . Eleven others received honor able mention and many beauti ful displays were ineligible be cause not registered. Clear skies were recently forecast for Los Angeles and vicinity alter a 49 rear record downpour of rain. Xhe record-breaking rain broke a record-breaking dry season, which was primarily the cause of the disastrous canyon fire at Santa Monica. With natural retainers burned from the side of the canyons, water swept down the sides and became turbulent rivers, carrying mud and debris over highways, en route to the sea. There will be no services in the evening. Final Rites Held For Reece Robbins ELLENDALE Funeral serv ices for Reece H. Robins, who was killed in an accident, on Rickreall creek Monday after noon, were held xnursday aiter noon at the Dallas funeral home. Rev. L. W. Collar of the Salem Nazarene church officiating. He was born in the Oakdale community October 16, 1878, and had spent his early life in Polk county. He was married to Misj Georgia Hallock of this com munity March 25, 1903. His wi dow and two of their four chil dren survive, Paul at home and Mrs. Art Bicker of. near Flor ence; ; also his iatner, jonn k. Robbins of Dallas; two brothers, Lester of Spokane and Ernest of California; and rther rela tives, j " In 1908 he went with his fam ily toi Pasadena, Calif., to attend Nazarene Bible c o 11 e g e, and preached for several years in the three , coast states, returning to Ellendale fire years ago. Enlarge Street Program LEBANON The street com mittee reported to the city council this week that street improve ments are progressing and the or iginal project is almost completed. By resolution, the entire city of Lebanon was declared a curb and sidewalk improvement district so long as federal aid is available. The treasurer was authorized to issue warrants for funds unappro priated, to the amount of $1000 for purchase of cement or other paving material for repair and building of sidewalks in connec tion with the WPA projects. A bill was passed asking for an ordinance regulating parking of trailer houses inside the city; also regulation for parking of trailers and penalty for violation. Mayor J. C. Booth, at the last meeting of his term of office ex pressed appreciation of the fine cooperation of the council and other city officials during his two year term. Three Masses on Sunday Schedule Catholic Young Folks Plan Annual Holiday Dance for Tuesday SILVERTON Three masses will be celebrated at St. Paul's church on Christmas day. The first mass, "Missa Canta ta," will be sung by the children's choir directed by Sister Olivetta, They will sing the mass of St Cecelia with the "Adesta Fidelis" offertory. This will be at 6 o'clock. Low mass will be celebrated at 8 o'clock and 10 o'clock, the 10 o'clock ' mass to be followed by benediction of the Blessed Sacra ment. This banquet is a feature of the close of the rodent hunt, in which two teams, .com posed of farmers of that com munity, take part. Prizes are presented the side making the greatest kill. ' Organize Gardeners ALBANY The newest garden club to be organized in Linn county is that of the Riverside community which' was organized at the home of Mrs. Henry Bry ant this week. Mrs. Bryant was elected presi dent, Mrs. Sam Burch vice-president, and Mrs. Ralph Zlarman secretary-treasurer. The group will meet the second Tuesday night of each month. .Observe Anniversary ALBANY Mr. and Mrs. Dava Ulrich of Nampa, Idaho, who are visiting here, and Mr. and Mis. William Erb of Albany, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversaries Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ree ser where they were honor guests at a dinner. Several Families Move Just Before Holidays In Silverton Country SILVERTON HILLS During the past week families have been moving and getting resettled for the holiday season. The Chester Mauldings .moved from the place they have been living to their strawberry acreage near the Sil ver Falls section. A family by the name of Casey moved to the home place of the Mauldings. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hagen moved from the strawberry ranch of the Mauldings to the He Mur ray ranch which has been occu pied by a second family of Caseys.
