Growth Reported In City Schools 53 More Registrations Bring Gain for Year to 236 Pupils Salem public school enrollment continues to increase, with t growth of 53 registered for th last six weeks period, October 2v to December 5, according to regis tration figures as of yesterday. The increase for the year, fron December, 1937, to December, 1938, is 236, 205 of which ha been in senior high school wher the enrollment now is 1894 anc expected to reach 1900 before tbt termends. Oct. 24 1938 430 355 238 256 312 180 222 227 531 1939 License Tag Demand Is Heavy A total of 28,513 automobile license plates for the year 1939 have been issued by the state de partment, Secretary of State Snell reported Wednesday. This is 839 more than on the same date a year ago. First 1939 plates will be mailed December 13, Secretary of State Snell said. Next year's plates may be placed on cars December 15. The 1939 plates have a black background and yellow numerals. Bill for County Audit Presented The state auditing division yes terday billed the Marion county court for $2002.76 for the 1937 audit of county offices and a spe clal 1933-1937 audit of tax Inter est receipts and allocations. The court later ordered the bill paid No bill for the special treas urer's office audit, not yet com pleted, was submitted. For pur poses of the investigation being made of a reported $23,035 dis crepancy in the treasurer's rec ords, the special audit will be brought up to November 1.
