Has Runaway in
Downtown Scio
SCIO An unusual scene-1n
Scio thlt week was a runaway
team that demolished the light
rig to which.it was. attached and
resulted in an injury to one of
the animal's ankles when the out
fit came in contact with a parked
truck at the Weseley grocery cor
ner. The truck was not damaged.
Frank Benes was driving the
team, which bscame frightened
and unmanageable about a half a
mile south of the city-.
The impact with . the . truck
threw Benes from the rig, from
which the .team became freed, the
driven landing violently on the
oiled street uninjured. He re
tained bis grip on the lines and
succeeded in stopping the horses
near the wreck. Benes is a -newcomer
from Czechoslovakia and i3
making his home with his broth
er, Anton Benes on a small farm
a short distance west of the city.
