ANGEL-The third an nual Oregon Flax Festival will get tmd e r way here : Friday. Colorful decorations : greet the eye"on' erery aide in the down town section of tlfe city, and the populace la eagerl- awaiting the thousands of visitors expected. Festivities will begin at noon when a caravan of members of he Portland chamber of com merce arrive to be feted at a luncheon at the Mt.: Angel hotel. They will be met at the outskirts of Mt. Angel by official escorts. Mayor Jacob'Berchtold will wel come them and speakers from both Portland and Mt. Angel wiU give short talks. Local artists will present a musical program. Joseph Keber, president of the Festival association, will - be chairman of the day, and Dr. A. F. E. Schierbaum wiir be toastmaster. : In the afternoon the Portland delegation and other visitors will be -taken to- the flax fields and plant by special cars, . provided for the occasion, and will have an opportunity to view each successive operation in the manu facture of linen fibre. Experts will explain harvesting methods and the various processes throu.ih which the flax must go before it can be woven Into linen. Open House at Co-op Later the lit.
