Hulbert's registered Jerseys Sybil's Tessis who already holds two records indicate that the cow will upset the record figures for mature cows. Ful ton, pastor of the Woodburn Chsrch of God,, has announced that the annual state camp meet ing of the Church of God will he ! held at the camp grounds here from July 21 to 31 this year. ' A full program has been ; ar ranged for each day of the meet ing with special daily services for the young people. The days program will begin at 6:30 a.m. with general services scheduled tor 10:30, 22:30 and 7:45. of 103 pounds each month The records Lorna already holds are for both tnUx and but- terfat as a two-year-old. The Hulburts have just fin ished a 3 05-day test on Sybil Lad's Margie who made a record of 5S0.57 pounds of fat and 10,- 995 pounds of milk. Margie was started on the test at the age of one year. 11 months. This record breaker is owned by Mrs. Hui- burt. 2 t Request Made by Planning Council City Asked to Deed Part of Athletic Field to Aid School Project SILVERTON At a meeting of the Silverton .planning council Friday night plans were laid to have a committee wait on. the city council asking the members of the latter if the ywould deed sufficient ground of the athletic field to the school district for a new high school building. Should the government! grant; not ' be made, or should the district turn down the bond issue vote it is to be understood that the ground be returned to the city. The bond Issue coming up at special .election on July 26 was discussed at some length with delegates from 1 various organ izations reporting informally that their groups favored the Issue. Post cards of a straw vote which had been sent out some time ago were counted : showing that approximately 180 were for the school with 1 35 against the Issue. More cards are expected in for a later .count. The committee appointed to wait on the council is composed of Dr. A. P. Loar, Ernest Starr. George Manolls. E. J. McCall, M. G. Gunderson, Earl Adams and J. H. McCullougb. The committee who tabulated the" straw vote included Mrs. O. B. Bentson, Rev, M. J. K. Fuhr and Harvey Haltett. ? Lewis Fowler resigned as presi dent and Bill, Hardy was elected to fill the unexpired term. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith and their daughters Margaret and Helen and Lawrence Addison have returned home from a trip to the coast. The party inspected Addison's homestead in Tilla mook county while there. Johnny Harvey returned to Boring with Mrs. Hughes for a short visit. Iowa had no wheat while Nebras ka was chiefly wheat. During Larkin 's absence F. E. Pence, overseer, is acting master. Mrs. William is the daughter of Mrs. Mariet Weddle Inducted As Stayton Head Warrant Basis Adopted for First Time in Several Years STAYTON W. A. Weddle was appointed this week mayor of Stayton following the resignation of George A. Smith. Weddle was to have take,n office January 1, 1939. Press of personal business was given by Smith as the reason for his resignation. He has been mayor and member of the city council for the past 20 years. Heavy expenditures during the past few months placed the city finances this week on a warrant basis tor the first time in several years. More than $2000 in war rants are ' outstanding and ad ditional warrants are to be is sued for the payment of the June accounts. Warrants Until Fall According to present indica tions, the warrant basis will be continued until late fall, but that the amount and number of out standing warrants will be reduc ed materially before that time. The warrant basis was neces sary because of the expenditure of several thousand dollars for the installation of new water mains, and the payment by the Aty of several hundred dollars for the purchase of a new fire truck.
