Spinster Summer Swing Event of Saturday A gala affair for members of the younger set will be the pinster Summer swing Saturday night in the Mirror Room of the Mar ion hotel. Dancing will be from ten to one o'clock to the xnusic of Harry Wesley and his orches tra.' Proceeds from the formal affair will .be used for the xrhilanthropic work of the Spinsters. Then Miss Erma Colo de lighted the group ' with several humorous -readings. A sacred song was then presented by the ' Crusaders quartet composed o f Misses Louise Ashcraft and Elene Douglas; nd Messrs. Melvin Holt and Warner Jackson. Mr. How ard Cole obliged the group with a short anecdote followed by a piano solo by Mr. Gilbert Clans man. Other numbers on the pro gram were: Miss Geraldine Ad nett and Miss Ruth Reasor. Both received generous applause. Jason Lee Classes Enjoy Picnic Fifty-six members of the Fidelia and senior classes of the Jason Lee Memorial church enjoyed a joint picnic Friday night at Hazel Green park. Bernice Brewster had charge of the supper and was assisted by Mr. Floyd Baum gartner. After the supper hour the group gathered around the eampfire and heard an interesting talk by Mr. S. W. Clemes. The remainder of ' the evening was spent with games and stunts under the direction of Mr. Don Douris. The Salem WCTU and Iota Sig ma WCTU will hold a joint meet ing on Monday in the hell on South Commercial street. There will be a community dinner at 6:30, followed by a program. The regular meeting of the Salem WCTU will not be held as usual on Tuesday. . Mrs. S. B. Gillette will enter tain members of the Beta Chi Mother's club with a no-host pic nic in the gardens of her home on South Commercial street Fri day afternoon. The Ames are former Sllverton residents, and the late Mr. Ames, with his brother. Sam, of Sllverton, began many of the early industries at Sllverton. Rev. W. H. Lyman as sisted by Rev. Melvin Trailer, officiated. Tall cathedral candles against a background of greenery with baskets of , syringa and white peonies formed a charming set ting. The candles were lighted by Miss Anita Mae Humphreys and Miss Betty Jean Chitwood, dressed alike in white. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. W. H. Lyman, accompanied by" the bride's aunt. Mrs. E. D. Raker of Vancouver, Wash., sang. Mrs. Raker played the wedding marches. Miss Inglis wore a gown of white satin fashioned with an Elizabethean collar and fastened down the back with a long row of covered buttons. The shirred bodice was embellished with a lace yoke and the long sleeves, full at the shoulder, were fitted below the elbow. She carried a shower bouquet of rapture roses and ewansonia.
