To Take Pictures -Merlyn Nelson, president-elect of the high school student body, and Carl McCloud, president-elect of Arthur Cotton Hi-Y chapter, will trarel with the Seattle group by bus. Under the leadership of Norman Beers, executive secre tary of the West Seattle HI-Y or ganization, the group will go east through Pendleton, Boise and Cincinnati. They too will take an eastern tour following the conven tion, and expect to take moving pictures of the trip. Theywill be the guests of YMCA's wherever they stop. Both groups expect to return to Salem between the 10th and 13th of July. Fry, 606 South High street Fifty years ago, 1888-89, the high school was held In the East Salem school, now known as the Washington school.' ! There1 were 46 pupils In the class and of this number 39 are still living. Twenty -eight mem bers have notified the committee they will be present. Officers of the class are: Mil ton Meyers, Totem pole; Ed L. Baker, treasurer, and O. J,' Shir ley, secretary. Committee on arrangements is Fred S. Williams, Mrs.; W. A. The English services at 11 o'clock will take the for mof a children's day pro gram in which recitations, scrip ture readings, and. singing will deal with the subject of missions and the part the children can take in this work. Also the German service at, 9:30 a.m., will deal with misstons. Offerings for mis sions will be lifted at both services. The picnic will open with a covered dish luncheon followed by games, contests, swimming and stunts. County Pioneers Of Linn to Meet BROWNSVILLE The Elst an nual Linn County Pioneer Re union and picnic will be held here Thursday, Friday and -Saturday, June 23. 24 and 25. Patient Safeguard Miss Marion Mott, president of the local division of the Ore gon Nurses association has re ceived Pins for all nurses regis tered in the state. The regis tered nurse pins, in the blue and gold colors of the state, are distributed b y the Oregon State board of exam ination and registration for grad uate nurses and, are the property of the state. The pins are being distributed to all graduate and . registered nurses in Oregon as a protection to patients and their ' families. They can be legally worn onlr by those who are graduates pf accredited schools of nursing and who are graduates of accredited schools of nursing and who have passed the examinations of the state board. Graduate nurses must have completed at least a three-year course of training in a hospital school in , which standards are set by the national nursing group. Helms, Portland city po lice official, was fined $25 and costs in the St. Helens Justice court Tuesday, on a charge of burning slashings without a per mit, the state forestry department announced here Thursday, , Helm Is the owner of a tract of land 15 miles west of St. Hel ens and employed Donald R. Hurst to operate the place. Hurst appeared as a witness and said he set the fire in compliance with instructions received from Helm. Hurst also was charged with setting a fire without a permit and was fined $25. His fine was remitted. The complaint was signed by George L. Bohrer, special investi gator for the state forestry de partment. Orphans Enjoy Hike SCIO W. M. Callaway took 16 boys from the ornhans home near Corvallis for a hike Monday. They also visited the state pheas ant farm, from which about 9000 young birds soon are to be liber ated. Callaway plans soon to give radio instruction there.
