"'" j -s - r".- ' r- r f - 1 N i , One, hondred thousand dollars In conntrrfeit money was recently seized by secret service agents ana tun Jose, t:al.,- police, climaxing months of investigation into the sources of bogus S5 bills which have flooded nearly every major city in the country daring the last two years. Tracing sales of the spurious notes to a small cot tage, government agents discovered n.huge cache behind a wooden wall in the basement. A closet containing 100 fruit jars, each holding $1000 in bogus money, was discovered in the fake wall. According to police, Sam Itongiarno (right) recently sold flOOO of the bills for $300; this, they said; was the "key to the situation. Top photo shows how money 'was stored. Three other men were held with Bongiarno of suspicion of counterfeiting and distribution of spurious money. IIX photo. s - Plan Enclosure, Historic Burial Site Near Scio SCIO Woven wire fence soon will enclose historical Providence church and cemetery, situated a few miles southeast of Scio, according to W. L. Swearingen, farmer near this city, who, with many others of the community, is (assisting in achieving the goal set a few years ago. Steel posts are set In the ground a depth of about two feet and the -fence is secured in a manner- calculated to last for many years. At the approach, or west front of the enclosure, are two large brick posts on which the gates are to be swung. A marble memorial to the founder, Joab Powell, early-day circuit rider of western Oregon, has been on the p-rounds for several years. Powell and sev eral associates established the historic Baptist church there in April. 1853, and christened it Providence church. R. E. Peery is secretary of. the association. Swegle School Patrons Called Friday to Talk Plans for new Building SWEGLE A meeting of school patrons of this district will be held Friday night at 8 o'clock at the schoolhouse to discuss the type and expense of the new school. Daniel, 75, Former Linn Resident, Passes in Washington Accident Victim's Funeral Is Today ALBANY--Funeral services for Mrs. Adda Foster Godwin, 36, who died Tuesday night following an accident in which she was hit by an automobile, will be held from the Fisher funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Twin Oaks cemetery at Turner. Mrs. Godwin was hit by an auto, driven by E. E. McCracken of Portland, near the Geary street intersection and the Salem highway Tuesday night. Adda Foster was born In Albany September 6, 1901. When ghe was two years of age her parents mov ed to Paulina, Crook county. In 1911 che returned to Linn county the family locating at Crabtree. On April 21, 1926, she was mar ried to Ralph Godwin at Salem, and they moved to Vfernonia where the deceased remanied until 1932 when she returned to Crabtree. In November of last year she came to Albany. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Ida Prlne Godwin of Crabtree. Leaves Dunsmuir As Slide Occurs PIONEER Mrs. C. E.
