Those winning prizes in tbe wreath contest were: Mrs. W. H. Loose, first; Mrs. Joe Van Cleave, second; Mrs. C. Berger. third, and Joe Van Cleave, honorable mention. The next meeting will be Jan uary 28. An increased school attend ance necessitated the hiring of another primary tea her in the Stayton grade school. Miss Edna Fery, teacher of the first and second grades, has 45 pupils. The school board will hold a special meeting irfght away to hire a teacner tot tne second grade. Liberty Residents See Start of jFlood Havoc LIBERTY Mr. and Mrs. W J. Fair returned Thursday from a trip of over three weeks that took them as far east as Ross- ton, Okla. On the eastward route they made short visits with relatives In Denver and Pueblo, Colo., and after spend ing 10 days in Rosston with his mother, Mrs. James Fair, they arrived in California in time to see the heavy rains and the be ginnings of the flood havoc and were delayed somewhat. They visited relatives in California and also with a former Liberty resident, Mrs. Mary Brown in Modesto. Citizens' Committee Will Report on City Problem SILVERTON Members of tht citizens' committee appointed bj the city council at its Decemhei nt e e 1 1 n g on December 6, hare been holding meetings during the week in an. endeavor to work out a ways and means of sol r ing the city's financial difficul ties. Several ways have been discussed but whether or not they are to be carried out is not yet known.
