Thought Reason' 'ALBANY Mrs. Nova Young, who served as health officer of Linn county the first five months of this year, and whose office "was temporarily discontinued during the months ot July and August, will be unable to act in the same capacity for the coming year. The announcement was made follow ing a Tisit ot Mrs. Young to Al bany Saturday. While in the city Mrs. Young conferred with two members' Ot the county, health as sociation who said that Mrs. Young gaTe as her reason the fact that she is living in Salem and would be too far removed from her work In this county. .. . - .While Mrs. Young did not make a formal resignation, it is under stood that this will be- done at the regular meeting ot the board, and that it will no doubt be ac cepted. At the same time a suc cessor for Mrs. Young will prob ably be named. ; - - The two , board : members Mrs. Young saw while in the city were County Judge J. J. Barrett and J. M. Bennett. The latter is coun ty school superintendent. The other members of the board are Mrs. Carl Connett and Arthur Pengra. ' J. M. Bennett is quoted as say ing there is approximately .$100 still remaining of the budget for expenditures of the county nurse, for the school months ot October, NoTember and December, y 1 Mrs. Young came to Albany from Salem last January, succeed ing Miss Juanita Johnson who re signed to take the position ot health nurse in the Albany schools. Portland to Join With Hop Fiesta INDEPENDENCE, Aug. 14. (Special) The East Side Com mercial club of Portland plans to end a caravan ot over 100 cars to Independence on Sunday, Aug ust 20. the final day of the an nual Hop Fiesta, -being held in that city next weekend, accord ing to Max Sagner. chairman ot the caravan committee. ! The motorcade will leave the club headquarters at East Sixth and Alder streets, at 9 a. m., proceeding to Salem where It will be met by a large delegation of Independence business men, headed by Mayor K. L. Williams.' From Salem, the cavalcade will be escorted, with a state police convoy, to the Horst company hop ranch,- located two miles north ot Independence, ' where refresh ments will be served, after which the visitors will be taken on tour of the hop yard. - In the afternoon the club mem bers will be entertained In Inde pendence and will view the motor cycle races, and other Fiesta events at the Hop Bowl, the city's large municipal stadium.
