Picnics in Order - ; Over Coming L Weekend PICNICS will be very much on the schedule Itpr- Salem resi-- dents this weekend, end whe ther the weather cooperates or not, meals will be eaten out-of-doors. " ' " 1 ' ' I One of the most characteristic habits of us westerners is that we carry , out our outing plans whether or not the weatherman predicts fair and warmer. For the past few weeka "standing room only" signs have been in order at the regular picnie grounds, es pecially at Silver Creek Falls where a gentle rain is only eon fused with the mist from the falls, t Many women have formed the habit of serving the heavier meal on . Saturday night, with some meat like a roast, which is sliced cold end. added to the Sunday picnic lunch. It makes a pleasant er holiday for the family cook, be cause most preparation is done the day before. Those who prefer to stay at home on Sunday, will have some of the roast left in the cooler for dinner. " ' Preparing the picnic meal at the campground with a minimum of work ahead of time is preferred by most families because cooking over the fire for real outdoor cooks; is more fun than on the home range. ' Assembling the salad, spreading the bread and slicing the meat at the campground is really fun, and things can be put together a good deal faster too, because less style is required. .
