Oats Market Breaks
A sharp break in the Chicago
oats market formed an I unsettling
factor concerning wheat and other
grains at this stage. Hery selling
of a stop loss character that de
veloped plunged the May oats
feature down 2 M cents a bushel.
The oats selling was largely a re
sult ot Inadequate buying power.
Corn price declines were large
ly a result of sympathy with oats.
Rye was adversely affected by
downturns of the two chief feed
grains, notwithstanding that wea
ther conditions were about as bad
as possible for corn movement.
Provisions 'declined; with pack

A list of 37 dairies, all ot which
meet the Grade A standards of the
Salem milk ordinance, was releas

county food and 'dairy Inspector.
The gsadlngs include all dairies
distributing milk in Salem for the
period between July it, 1930, and
January 15, 1937.
Salem, one of many cities using
a milk ordinance similar to the
Standard milk ordinance develop
ed by the U. 8. Public health bu
reau, allows only Grade A raw and
pasteurized milk to be sold In the
city. The ordinance provides as
well for periodic inspection of all
dairies supplying milk In the Sa
lem milk shed and examination of
milk aamples for bacteria, count,
butter fat. specific gravity and de
tection of adulterants.
. During the past six months sam
ples ot - paateurtted milk have
shown an average of 7000 bacter
ia per. cubic centimeter and' raw
milk has averaged 9400 per" c. c.
The maximum allowable is an are
rage of 30.000 per e. c These ave
rages are based on the results of
192 samples of bottled milk. In
addition 463 samples were. taken
ot milk as received at the plant
prior to pasteurization. There are
now 28 dairies licensed to deliver
milk in Salem, 9 Grade B produ
cers supplying milk to' he pas
teurizing plants, and Grade A
producers , supply milk to the
plants for sale raw.
Three Degraded '
During the period three produ
